I have a Jonway 150 cc scooter. When I started the scooter today, after it started the starter kept engaging when engine was running, and when I turned it off the scooter the starter kept trying to start. I tried to use the kill switch. The starter kept engaging and it would make a starting sound. When I started it back up, it ran even when I disconnected the negative teminal to the battery, and the screw that holds the connections was hot. The scooter ran even when I disconected the fuse to the battery. I tried to start it again. This time no electricity.
What could be the problem?

Your starter solenoid is stuck give it a good wack with the plastic end of a #2 phillips screwdriver

that is weird! One thing that has happened to me is that the microswitch was damaged which is the one under your handle to allow you to turn on your scooter and brake lights. Also the start button was very sticky and would stick which would allow the starter to turn. for some reason your getting power to your starter when your scooter is on. Something is wrong there. Not sure what i could be tho. But yea that is what happened to me

Follow the heavy positive wire coming off the battery it will eventually connect to a little plastic box just before the starter. Looks like this partsforscooters.com/SolenoidShould be on the right hand side near the engine

Just thought I would mention that though wacking fixes it sometimes, it will not fix it forever and will normally have issues in the near future. So order the part if you do get it to go.

The problem is fixed. Now I have another problem. The scooter will power off when i turn it off, but the kill switch does not kill the power. When I turn the key I get power even when the kill switch is engaged.

The problem is fixed. Now I have another problem. The scooter will power off when i turn it off, but the kill switch does not kill the power. When I turn the key I get power even when the kill switch is engaged. Need to disassemble the kill switch and see if it's corroded and use a multimeter to ohm it out to see if it's working right. It will be a two or three way type kill switch. Two type means the engine will turn over but not start with the kill switch engaged. Three way type means the scooter will not make a sound when the kill switch is engaged. Let me know which type and I'll guide you through the testing process. JR
