I inherited a Tank 250cc an all I know it won't run, I believe it's a 2005 model.Would I start out with a valve adjustment? I'm use to my VIP 63cc an also work on the smaller ones in the summer. When my Son-n Law was living he told me it was starting to run a little sluggish. Any how where should I start? Also what is the valve lash on a 250cc? Thank You to anyone who could help me out. P.S. It might be a 2008 model, I'll have to get it from my Daughters to my house to check it all out.

If its been sitting start with a fuel system flush and clean; fresh fuel carb clean etc. Remember you need Fuel/air, spark, and compression at the right time to run start with fuel and check them all in that order till you find it...

Thank's scootnwinn! I'll try all of that. I live here in Indiana an it's too cold to work on it right now, just trying to do a little research on the scoot before spring.

Then it is probably in your best interest to drain the fuel now replacing it with fresh, add some Berryman's fuel system treatment at 2 ounces per gallon and crank it a few times to get it distributed for starters. Let it set a day, then go back to it to see if it starts and if it does let it run for a few minutes and add some Stabil or StarTron to keep it until it warms up. Otherwise the Ethanol could be so bad by the time warm weather gets there that you will have more to fix than you do now.

I see where they quit making Tank Scooters an it's very hard to get parts for it,I didn't know that just until a few minutes ago when I was searching the web. I'll get back on this forum when I get the scooter at my garage. It wasn't running before my Son-N-Law died, I never got a chance to ask him before he passed why it wouldn't run. Although he did tell me someone had stolen it an when he got it back it would not start. Right now it's setting outside with a tarp over it. P.S. Sorry about bringing up about my Son-N-Law's death, I know this isn't the place to speak of it,but he would want to see me have it running again if he was here. Thanks once again!

Sorry to hear of your loss, and if you feel the need to talk about it, do so. (pain and loss come to us all) If I recall correctly that model is made under several names, and being that it's the Honda clone engine (used in a variety of models) you can find the parts at a number of locations on the web. P.S. One of many parts places for the Tank 250 on the web. www.extrememotorsales.com/Tank-Touring-250cc-Scooter-Parts.htm

burnrubber, sorry to hear of your loss, we are one big family here, we are scooter brothers, you can freely talk about whats on your mind, I'd would also check all those vacuum lines and Y tubing and T's and your intake clamps. Do a good PDI.

All the Tank 250's have the vertical CF Moto clone engine the 244cc. Valve adjustment can be done manually or with the engine running, for a manual PM me.
