I have a 2004 eton beamer pn2 and just recently bought a new battery and put it on a trickle charge, put it in the scooter and ran it for a little while, maybe a couple weeks and one morning I couldnt start it as the battery was completely dead. upon further inspection I see it will start just fine with a jumper, however the battery is killed *but* the positive leads are reading 25v and up when i rev the engine? is my rectifier bad? over-charging the new battery to the point where it kills it? I was driving the thing home last night after a friend came and helped me jump it and the lights were sooo dim but at full throttle they were ok.. however when i touched the brakes they got so dim i couldnt even see hardly... they are brand new headlights, basically brand new battery, new spark plug, new rollers.. thought the rectifier was going bad before but figured it was ok because it was putting out voltage, however now I think it is bad because it is overshooting the voltage to the battery, it melted the insulation off the wire at the terminal and made the fuse look like ive been holding a blow torch to it or at least 1 side of it... any suggestions anybody? is there a way i can know for sure if the rectifier is bad or if its the stator?

why did you trickle charge new battery? rectifier issue, replace stator and rectifier as a set replace fuse holder or wires test and/or replace battery .

is that a cone you're using as a backrest? good idea lol dont know how you got that to work.. well the company i got the battery from said it wasnt fully charged so i had to put it on a trickle charge overnight to fully charge it.. no problem was reading nearly 14 volts and battery wasnt hot. put it in the scooter and started right up. so it is a rectifier issue... replacing the rectifier is an easy fix but I dont have the first clue about changing the stator, also thats like double the initial price cost for the fix.. I guess to ensure all problems are fixed could do both, where can I get a wiring harness though? or can I just use some wire from wal-mart? I have a brand new battery waiting but not going to put it in the scooter or probably even run the thing until I get the parts although I really really need it to get to work.
2004 eton beamer pn2 30w halogen foglights attached to side of front case where reflectors used to be 7 gram sliders mixed with 7.5 gram rollers alternating... great top and low end runs great, done this because the sliders made it run like crap and when i put the rollers back in with them it was much better for some reason, thought they were 5.5g rollers but eton manual specifies otherwise bpr8hix spark plug 18w halogen headlight upgrade

no need for a harness just use quality wire , if possible solder your connections , electrical tape gets messy after a while ,use heat shrink on your repairs,
