Not sure if my starter is bad or another issue. Bike was slow to start this morning, but caught and fired up. I went to start it at lunch today, and the starter would turn a little. I thought the solenoid might be bad, so I jumped across it and got it to turn the starter and cranked up. When I was coming back, I got only a click from the solenoid when I pushed the starter. Tried to jump it, and nothing. Didn't even spark. I pushed it back to work, but won't get a chance to mess with it until tomorrow. Just thought I would get some ideas before digging in tomorrow.

I'll double check it tomorrow, it's a fairly new battery and hasn't given any problem until this morning

It should read 12.5-12.9 with the engine and key off. It should read 13.5-14.5 volts with the engine revving about 3000 RPM. If it doesn't go up when you rev the engine then you have a charging issue.

Ok, got it going today, but still don't know what the problem was. Charged the battery and still had same issue. I pulled the starter and tested it. The starter turned normally, so I cleaned it up, reinstalled, and bike ran fine. May have been bad ground, but with 2 bolts holding it in that seems unlikely.

You'd be surprised but even a bad contact in the starter switch could be the problem. I'd keep an eye on it. If it acts up again, test the starter button itself with the multimeter to see if current goes through it properly.
