I have a 2012 Taotao ATM50-A Stealth. Speedometer cable broke after 450km (3 months). I have a replacement on hand. What's the preferred lubricant for a speedo cable? I've read about graphite oil and white lithium grease and others. Just wanted to check in with you guys before making a decision. Also want to lube the speedo cable on my new Taotao ATM150-A Evo before the first ride. Thanks!

I use graphite. The lube they come with is an odd type of grease that turns tar like...and will notice it is 'setting up' into a tar like substance....cause your speedo needle will start bouncing due to the binding.

Regular spray chain and cable lube work fine. What's important though is to clean out the Chinese grease first. Brake cleaner sprayed through the end works wonders.

Or switch to a magnetic speedometer. They use a magnetic bolt to replace one holding the brake rotor on and a sensor on the fork tube to read a revolution when it passes by. No moving parts except for the indicator needle, none if it is digital.
