Yes too thick will restrict fuel flow and impact top speed while too thin can be more prone to breakage.

Malossi and Polini recommend and sell reed blocks with one thick..and one thin on each side. I believe the V3 reed blocks are the same. According to racing planet heavy= more top and.....thin = better low end power...so they mix the 2 on the reed block to cover the entire rpm spectrum. DO NOT quote me on this...but do look it up...the thick one goes in front...thin one in the back. btw ryan...got my new kit on my Hornet..and what a hassle so far. It is tight fitting though which is good....but the porting is huge and port timing is like a racing cylinder kit. Smallest dish and squish band I have ever seen..it's like kick starting a Harley.. But now my old jetting for the previous BBK isn't working. Bogs and low power...which means I gotta upjet...get rid of the stock pipe and airbox. But this thing REALLY looks promising!

Still having fits with my new BBK....can't tell if it too rich or lean....just no power. Plug looks a good caramel brown though. But all the ports are bigger and actually cleaned up and polished. So it may be that it just doesn't like a stock airbox and stock exhaust because it is designed as a Hi po BBK? All I know is that you and I both know it went 55mph with that old kit. But this one takes me forever to hit 45...and that is only if I lean down forward. The old kit was barely lean with a #84...right on with a #87.5. New one was crappy with both of those...went up to a #90..and still runs like sh!t.... Also Happy Birthday...AND congrats on your engagement.. Lucky dawg...you sure picked a cutie..
