This isn't some problem with noise I'm about to tell you about, unless you think having a BOOMING sound system hooked onto your scooter is bad ;D I was kind of bored today and just for fun I wondered what if at all possible I could do to have a really kickin sound system on a scoot. Well, here's what I did:
I went down to my local hardware/automotive store and purchased a small, 150 watt power inverter and a power source adapter (basically a cigarette lighter socket with extension wires) I attached the wires to the battery directly and ran them up under the seat bucket, being careful NOT to let them sag over the engine. I then installed the small inverter under the seat (sorry I didn't take pics) bucket along with a computer audio system subwoofer and it's companion speakers on the dash to either side of the mirrors. My setup wasn't all that great I must admit but as a prototype I don't think it was half bad, especially when I powered it up!!! The power inverter and battery handled the sub perfectly and the entire overall sound kicked some serious a$$, enough in fact that a police officer reminded me of noise ordinances and that I can be fined! LOL One word of caution and I'm sure most of you are assuming the obvious that you won't want to run this very long without the engine on. You also have to make sure that the power is OFF when you go to start up or you may weaken the battery very quickly. There was one small issue which I found with it that even though it wasn't drawing much current, the inverter needed to be power cycled every time I started up as well, after the engine came to life. Discovering that was fun and the looks I got were great to see, people with that "where did he get that?" look on their faces in stunned surprise. A big, booming stereo coming off a not so big scooter!
