This, is my Honda Zook www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQmGsKPZqjo !
For those of you not familiar, this is a Japanese Honda sales experiment from 1990 (and ONLY 1990). They were manufactuered only in Japan and only for one year so they're supposed to be extremely rare. Honda doesn't make it, or parts for it anymore, so... So far I have no clue how to even go about restoring it. Impossible to get another one to cannibalize, impossible to go to the dealer for parts, and I can't find any cycle junkyards near my house.
Lucky for me... It's in running condition. Sadly it just won't stay running. I've found that the problem is that the airbox was removed and the "slider thingy" in the carb is stuck at halfway.
The only things I need to find a replacement for are:
a headlight
tail light
turn signals
air box/filter
and alll the plastics.
I'll be uploading pictures of the carb slider thingy so y'all can give me your opinions on it. It prettymuch won't start unless the a/f screw is all the way in because it seems to be getting too much air, the idle screw is as far as I'm willing to unscrew it (still snug, but any further and it would be too loose).
If you want to know the story behind it...
I had been scouring craigslist for six months trying to trade any possessions of value for a scooter because my family doesn't have a car and I had grown tired of bicycling to the stores. So I finally managed to get some guy interested in trading a DiBlasi fold up scooter and this Honda Zook for my very precious Guitar that belonged to Rick Springfield (Jesse's Girl). As the guy went to his truck to supposedly get the title he drove off (don't worry I've found that it has never been titled in the U.S.). After I changed the oil and sprayed a bit of starting flued in it it started right up. Now for the past few months I've been tweaking the a/f and idle screws until it would stay running. I've found that it won't stay running with throttle unless something is blocking the airflow enough to compensate for the slider thingy stuck at halfway.
The best thing about the scooter is that it still has those original one of a kind tires that leave footprints, haha.
