I know this will be the cause of vast amusement. So here's the situation. I was putting fuel stabilizer in the tank using a turkey baster and the plastic tube poped out of the bulb and fell into the tank. I've tried fishing it out for several hours to no avail. I considered leaving it in, but my son, a graduate student in chemistry, told me that gas can desolve some plastics. So I figure I've got two options:
1 - take the tank off the scooter, flush it and put it back or
2 - swap out the old tank for a new one.
Since either option involves the removal of the tank has anyone done this, and have any advice on how to do it.

Syphon or suck the gas out so you can see in the tank with a flashlight and get a mental picture of just where and how it lies. I have syphoned my Linhai dry so it can be done. Use a smaller hose like 1/4 or 5/16 plastic hose as the smaller the hose the easier to get the syphon started. Have the scooter up on someplace higher like a high curb or the likes to make it flow better. Get a three prong small parts three finger gripper from an auto supply. Keep fishing and you will get it. With no fuel in the tank you should be able to see it and get ahold of it. If you can see the end of the baster it is possible to bend a short L on the end of a stiff wire like a coat hanger and insert it into the end of the baster and get it up to where you can get ahold of it with a needle nose plier or use your imagination. Believe me it is a lot of work to remove that tank. You want to get it out as it may interfere with the fuel gage float.

Good luck jhwilson, that sould like something I'd wouold do. I did something stupid too, changing intake manifold, had trouble lining up the hole to put the screw in, work at that thing for a long time, the i noticed a open end on the intake that would slide on the screw, (dumb I know).
