Instead of spending $100+ on a performance carburetor I was wondering if anyone has tried the 250cc's GY6 30mm carburetor? They're only like $50...

Yep people have tried, and unanimously failed. A 30mm 250cc carb is way too big for a 150cc. With carburetion, bigger is NOT better, rather you need to find the IDEAL CFM for whatever engine you are using. In these gy6 150cc stock engines, that translates to a 24mm carb with a main jet ranging from 1.07mm to 1.15mm (#107 to #115) depending on the air filter you use.
Most of the time this is simply your stock carb with a new main jet, which only cost about $5.
The $100+ carbs you speak of are usually "Flat-slide" carbs which are a totally different than the "round-slide" carbs that come on these bikes, they do not use a vacuum diaphragm so they are far quicker reacting which translates to much better low and midrange acceleration.
So in summary: $5 plus an air filter on a stock carb is all you need for a great performance carb mod. But if you spend 100 then you can have the bragging rights of having a "hot carb". And lastly a 30mm 250cc carb will not run, or run extremely poorly and be of absolutely no advantage whatsoever.

I ordered a HOCA performance carb for $50 and a #110 main jet for $3 off of www.partsforscooters.com and so far I've had great luck with it! In fact, once I got it tuned right, My scooter rips off the line like a rocket! There's no time for waiting when the light goes green!

I think you may have forgot that all important 1 before the 50 so it reads $150 and not $50.

MY FAULT!!! It is NOT a HOCA carb, It is however the typical GY6 carb with the 110 main jet, the prices were correct but I misspoke when thinking I had gotten the HOCA. I am however, getting the HOCA 115mm variator with 12g rollers
