I am in the process of building a 1P57QMJ and I for the life of me can not understand why when I tighten the case bolts the engine become bound up. I thought the counter weights from the crank were throwing it off but that seems not to be the case. up until the point of the build everything is fine. As I tighten the bolt to the left of the oil pump.cover, the engine binds on me. The crank nut is tight. So the counterweights can not be the issue and the engine spins freely. To that point everything is stock with the exception of a +4 crank and aluminum gaskets.

This...
Would be the reason why, when doing upgrades or repairs, we start with the simple stuff. Once you get to this point you are where even few of the most experienced mechanics have gone, and sometimes not even then, here you are the main man, when somebody asks for the system administrator they're speaking of you, there exists nobody who has gone beyond what you are doing, folks like you shouldn't have problems and if you do few (if any) will know the answers.
Now... Can you turn the engine by hand? If so with the cover OFF try inserting the bolt in question, slowly. And see if you can turn the engine.
Good luck with it

Firstly I enjoy going where no man has hasn't gone before. I believe that if one does not inquire as to how the machine works them you are at the beck and whim of every so called mechanic that you subject yourself too. I encourage those to tempt fate and attempt the impossible, for this is exactly what dreams are made of.
Here is the skinny: I have a new bought 180cc power kit from partsforscooters, and a +4mm crankshaft WITH the piston zero decked. Aluminum gaskets for the crank case, and a variety of other goodies for the CVT. I just received the engine yesterday after noon and began my install. As I put together this engine I spin the crank ever so often to make sure that all is going according to plan. when I placed that one bolt in the case, the engine refused to move, so I backed out to reevaluate what the problem might be. According the the measurements the piston should clear and the rest of the build should be fine.

Width of the shaft? For the type of case you have. Not an expert by any means.

Is your engine a 1P57qmj or 157QMJ ?
