Hey fellow 'dawgs. I recently diagnosed a intake manifold problem, ordered a new one, and got it in the mail today. The problem is is that the new one has only one port whereas my old one had two. I can start it with the other hose not plugged into anything and the idle is a bit more steady, but it still wants to die with the headlights/dashboard lights dimming/lighting. I can only hope that after I get the solution for this hose that the idling problem will be fine (if not then that means I need some more detective work to do), but I just needed to make sure. Do I just get a plug for that hose? Thanks in advance! Edit: For a bit more information, I have confirmed no vacuum leaks in hoses and valves are adjusted. Also, I tried to not over tighten the nuts on top of the intake manifold and the clamp to the carb'.

And I apologize if this has been answered. From my search I notice that everyone seems to have the opposite problem (1 -> 2). ;P

What is the other vacuum line connection you need? The first one is the fuel petcock I'm assuming but what else is there? EGR?

I'd get that other line hooked up before I'd try anything else then I'd set the air fuel mix and idle. if someone tried to compensate for a vacuume leak, the a/f mix screw may be backed way off.

stiv625 - From my search on the forums it seems to be called the Emissions/Charcoal/Carbon Canister, the black cylinder mounted high near the tank on the right side (looking from the back of the scoot'). It slides into a mount and has three hoses. There is a large one going from the canister to the bottom of the valve cover, another large one that follows nowhere and gets smaller as it goes along, and another one that went to the right nipple on my former IM. I've had experience with the one that goes nowhere since that hose melted together several months ago and was giving me trouble (before I just cut off a piece), but I've never had to deal with the others until now. The guy in this post (http://scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=11596) removed it though I don't want to make hasty decisions and I wouldn't know what to do with the valve cover opening. urbanmadness - I have been trying to get access to that fuel/air screw since I'm pretty sure I'm running lean. I am a bit confused as to what you are implying. Is it particularly harmful to keep that not plugged into something? (sounds like a dumb question in my head, but ehhh. XD) teddy554 - Which other hoses would I join with IM hose if I did get the Y connector? I guess from what I read that I could get an air leak from this canister thing and that it has to deal with not having vents in gas tanks and reducing emissions. If I did remove it, how would I compensate the lack of gas venting? I appreciate your guys' inputs and help!

Wow $6 for a 10 cent piece of plastic that's a rip!

Right. I understand that, but which other hoses would join along on the two other nipples of the y-connector?
Also, I guess it is common for some of the other 'dawgs to have a vent coming from the gas tank to the charcoal canister, but mine does not. I have a small hole on my gas cap right alongside the grip in the center. Only reason why I'm mentioning that is because when I overfill the tank it won't start afterwards for a long while.
I'm going to take the next weekend to invest in getting access to that fuel/air mixture screw.

To elaborate, I mean that from what I've gathered from other forums, the charcoal canister can get clogged if one overflows the gas. The gas travels through a line to the canister. Mine does not have that line, but rather my canister seems to only have connections to the IM (which has been free-hanging) and the bottom of the valve cover.
