can you change to a high performance air filter as my air cleaner box came from the factory broken in two places and you can see where they smeared black rtv at the spots where it is broken I have seen some carb intake tubes for motorcycles that have the vacuum tube in them but is there enough room to make the change just checking before i go to all the trouble of taking all the plastic fairings off to get to it thanks for any response.

Yes you can, you can take the Air Box off and just stick a Filter on the end of the tubeing and leave any hoses going to the tubeing alone. But you will most likely have to mess with the carb(bigger jets and adjustments) because now you will be getting more air and you will need more fuel to match the extra air coming in.
If your not to hip on the mechanics I would just order a new Air Box for it. Changing the amount of air on a motor requires a lot of messing around in getting the proper amount of fuel to match the air intake.

thanks for the info I think I'll do like you suggested I've been a mechanic for 40 yrs but most has been in the R&D field of jet engines and aircraft not much experience with small engines. I had the dealer do most of the maintenance on my scoot and now that I am taking it apart I 'm finding he didn't do what he charged me for. I change my own fluids but being in the R&D field we used to mark certain items to make sure they where not messed with after we worked on them I am finding that he never changed the oil filter or the fuel filter I learned my lesson and now I have to deal with it. He also never cleaned the air filter or put oil in the air filter any idea on what to clean it with and what oil to use on the air filter once again thanks

If the Air Filter is made out of foam just use soap and water let it dry. As far as oil goes you can get a can of oil in a spray can for filters at your auto parts store. If the Filter is paper you cannot clean those and have to get a new one OR you can get some foam and make one and replace the paper filter then you will have a filter that you can clean and reuse.

Just about any oil will work as long as it sticks to the foam and not be so thick that it retricts air from getting through it. So yes by all means give it a shot It will be better than no oil at all. The Oil is just to trap the smallest dust particles, some people do not even put oil on them if their area is just clean road driving.

Thanks again jazzman it seems you are the only one talking today I appreciate the info and will be putting it back together tomorrow I live way out in the stix and would not be good to get stranded the 250b is a big scoot to have to push I used to live in PA and moved to SC a couple months ago and have a lack of friends now with access to get picked up if I break down. Was having trouble with the scoot stalling when I let off the throttle and found the fuel filter full of water so I have been working through one system at a time till I get so it is dependable enough to ride again. Like I said thank you very much and keep on scootin peacedawg
