I like the white ones better than the grey. Suzuki knows this, that people in general liked the white one better, so they reserved the white color for the Executive versions (650cc). Yours could easily be mistaken for the executive version, eventhough it's only a 400cc.
If you ask me, the 400cc is more than enough to drive in the city, and occasional highway travel. The 650 is a bit too heavy.

I dislike white because in fog, it is hard to see by other drivers. A 400cc engine I would not be afraid to take a long distant State to State trip. A 650 is alot of scooter but more power too. If I owned a white scooter, I would have to add color to it.

I did not hear it run yet, was a quick stop on my way somewhere else. Saw it and stopped. But come next year I will go back and see if they still have it. If so I will ask them to start her up or me.

It's fuel injected. You won't even hear it start. Most fuel injected bikes take less than 1/2 second to start. It's like pressing the button and the engine is already running; except if it stood so long that there's air in the fuel hoses. Then it could take a while to start, but once it runs, turn it off, and it'll start so fast!

Uhm you can hear them start. Mine goes from silent then you turn on the key and you hear the sound of the fuel pump prime then touch the button and 400cc's of Suzuki power makes its presence known. I think he meant he just wanted to hear the awesome exhaust note of that lovely white beast. Sell your children or whatever you have to do buy it NOW!

Hey, if it is still there by the time your tax refund comes, I'll bet the price will be even better.

scootnwinn, if he sells his children, then he won't get as much money back from taxes. So that won't work. ;D
Beautiful looking bike, sunnmann. Here's hoping it does stick around for you.

Burgman 400 is a nice bike. Mind you that once you get over 500cc the cost of belts and maintenance parts increases greatly as does the need for expensive specialty tools. Some really go through a bit of shock at the cost of standard maintenance on the 650 which makes the 400 much more attractive to somone one a tight budget.

Actually since he will be filing his 2012 return he can claim them for the whole year as we are already in the last month. Wow, that's a pretty sweet deal then. Sell the kids, get the Burgy now, and still claim the now-gone kids on taxes. Sweet! Unless he really does love his children being at home.... Hm. Children underfoot and gulping food like starved folks, and needing clothes and school and stuff, and wanting iPods and Xboxes and all other manner of expensive electronica, versus a Burgy under tooshie and sipping gas, and probably not needing or wanting much of anything for a while. Sunn', sell them kids!! ;D >'Kat, who yes, has no children of her own

Selling the kids don't work because people keep returning them. ;>
Besides it is nice when they grow up to take them shopping and turn the tables - Oops! Dad somehow forgot his wallet today kids. Can you put gas in the car so we can make it home. Can you pay for that kids, you know if I go home for my wallet it might not still be here when we get back. You get the pizza's while I get the car so we can get home fast before they get cold and yes we can get the garlic knots along with all the trimmings. You mother will pay you back after payday. Just don't forget to remind me. You know old people tend to forget things.
It can be a wonderfull thing! Turn senility into an asset!
Me I am resisting the temptation to upgrade as the Aprilia 250 is working out just fine. 12,800+ miles on it today and going strong. Still cruises well at 80+ on the Interstate and has not been a limitation thus far.

Yes I do love my kids......most days. Plus the Grandparents, Uncles, and Aunts...not to mention the Great-Grandparents (NanaToo and PapaToo)...would kill me if I did so. Tried to sell them to the Grandparents once, they blew me off. Plus I want to let the ride behind me at least once.

If your really serious and would buy it with your tax return if it is still there, talk to the dealer and put some cash down on it to hold it. But just be sure because the Deposit to hold it will not be refundable. If he says yes, but before you plunk your deposit down have them start it up and let it warm up and check it over especially the temp gauge and other instruments and see if you can take it around the block. If you hear any noises coming from the motor walk away.

You know jazzman I was thinking the same thing. A bird in hand is worth 6 in the bush even at the motorcycle shop if its been there for 4 months I bet they would hold it. By all means ride it first...

Duh, jazz, you are so right. What I did with my car, and why I own my car. A guy had come before me and checked it out, then said he needed to check it with his wife. Got home, talked with her, called the guy to say they wanted the car. Too late 'cause I'd been there meanwhile and put a deposit on him. Seller apologized to the guy; guy was mad at himself for not thinking of making a deposit.
AND--the seller would've returned my deposit if my mechanic had found major issues or said I shouldn't buy it.
Sunn, do like jazz suggested. Talk to the dealer, test drive the Burgy, if it's good then make a deal for a deposit now and full payment upon tax-time.
This way you get to keep all the grands happy by not selling the kiddos. Btb rocky, love how you handle your finances with your kids, ha!

Sounds like a good idea, just remember I am new to anything without 4 wheels...except a bicycle. So not sure about a test drive yet. I have to wait for that same tax return to take a safety class. But I will see fi I have time this Friday to stop by and have them start it for me and let it warm up, then talk to my Mom and Dad and see if can get them to help me put some money down to hold it.

Here's a couple more ideas.
1) Ask a rider-friend to test drive it for you. Even if he rides motorcycles, he should still be able to get an idea if it drives okay, or if something's out of alignment or rough or anything like that.
2) Ask the dealer to take you for a ride. Then you can feel how it goes and get an idea about it.
3) Ask to test drive a smaller bike with similar-sized wheels, and work up to the Burgy. I'd never ridden on a motorcycle or scooter, so my dealer had me try a small-tired 50cc Vespa first. Hated it. HATED it. Felt like a drunk. Told him my getting a bike was a bad idea after all. Then he had me go around on one like what I wanted. Total difference. LOVED!!!!! it!! Also, a good dealer can apparently tell if you have the basic skills to drive a scooter, or if you're going to be pretty hopeless on one. And an honest dealer will try to change your mind about getting one.
Btb, I owned mine for just over a month before my safety class. Cheated and rode around the private-owned streets of our neighborhood.

Deposit usually is for a week or two. They won't accept it if it's for a month, let alone 2,5 months.
A used burgman is a scootard's dream! Usually most chinese scoots are ripoffs, lookalikes, but never really get it 100%. BMS only has 260cc, good enough for the local travels. However Suzuki got it right. Their executive 650cc burgman also is a very nice scoot. If I where you, I'd get the 400cc, but first buy a smaller scoot for the local travels. Getting a 50cc (TaoTao ATM50) or a cheap 2 stroke 50cc, should teach you the basics. The step from a chinese 50cc to a burgman is really small, since both have a CVT; they basically require you to balance, throttle and brake!
