Hey everybody, I just bought an 08 Bali 250 and I have found the temp gauge doesn't seem to move. I have taken it on a 20 mile ride and there was not response. I have putt 200 miles on it since i got it, should I be worried? Coolant is full..

Yes you should be concerned how are you going to know if it is overheating. And if it happens to overheat it may damage you motor and seals.
You should go and visit ScooterPr0fessor the owner JR knows all about the 250s and cooling and what to check and how. I am not a guru on the cooling and the wiring on the 250s.i

The thermostat is on the engine, heat sensor is connected to the radiator.. I seriously doubt it could be the instrument panel.. I would check antifreeze daily until get fixed.. The sensor on the radiator is for the fan. I'm 99% sure the temp gauge sending unit mounts onto the engine:

did you buy it new? if so , from a shop or online? if from a shop , take it to them.

it could many things, a fuse the ignition, one lousey wire, the gauge and even if it registers maybe the fan will not kick on and or kick on at the wrong temp. You do not want to mess with something that can seize your motor in a heartbeat. If you do not know much about it my philosophy is try and find someone who knows more than you do and especially if it's free. I know quite a bit on how it works but I am not a guru that can tell you how and which color wires to check and what they should read to find the culprit or culprits.
But here we are people coming on throwing all kinds of stuff out they do not know anything about. Best advice for the man is go where the knowledge is for his problem it will save him money time, parts and a motor.

Well, one thing, if it was the thermostat, it would be getting hot. Since you have rode it some, it should not be this problem. And you would smell the antifreeze getting hot if it was the thermostat. I agree with jazzman, it probably is a wire or fuse.

I have a 2008 Suzuki 650 executive and this summer at a railroad crossing the temp started to climb and the fan did not kick on. Took it to my Suzuki mechanic and he checked it out and said I have some bad news and good news. He said the ECU is bad(which feeds the fan) but it is expensive $700.00. He said I could put on a Toggle switch for $100.00 I told him go for it.
Riding around with the wind hitting the front radiator the temp is fine and does not start to get hot. But if I have to idle for a while I have to hit the toggle switch to turn on the fan and everything is good.

Heh! I did the same thing to a '86 Hyundai Excel. Ran a fused hot lead to the fan plug and routed the return through the dashboard with a toggle. Some guys laugh and call you a "monkey mechanic" but I'm all for saving money since I've been dirt-poor for most of my life.

Thanks, I am going to try and look at it myself tomorrow. If its not something simple I will definitely take it in. I bought it used and it has been sitting in a garage for 3 years.

Well I checked fluids, they are good. I checked fuses they are good and i took the radiator cap off and its got fluid there. So i will have to dig a little deeper.
