I usually end up filling up by half tank 3.2gal is what I hold...and have been tracking mpg's on fuelly religiously. I'm a big guy so probably could squeeze out a few more mpgs by dropping some pounds. That said- usually better than 90% of the folks I encounter coming at me from the opposite direction wave if they are on two wheels. I try to always do that first... sometimes you can't... sometimes they seemingly are riding an extension of their anatomy and it's beneath them to wave... but most of the time everyone waves back. I did have an experience the other day where a pickup truck approaching from behind who was turning off before he came up along side of me, decided to yell "hey pancho villa!" through his driver side window but I did my best to ignore. Hopefully they feel slightly stupid or let down when they don't get a reaction. I have several times ended up in 15-30 minute conversations outside of the grocery store about my scooter. One person had their own- it was a 150cc mine is a 300 (275cc). One lady was in her 70's it looked like, but we talked about back in the day when she used to ride a motorcycle. Another guy in his 70's stopped by and knocked on the door of my house because he had been driving by many times and seen the scooter.

I have gotten many of waves from Harleys as who would not be happy riding thunder ? Crotch rocket riders tend to be snooty . I always give a toot toot to other scooter riders and I would say 75% toot back . Sometimes they are not paying attention or skilled enough to react in time so it does not always mean they are rude with no toot back

I was out riding the other day and a Harley rider passed from the other direction and he waved. I was a little surprised.

ah yeah the other day I got a nod from another scooter and I just nodded back lol but today I totally got blown of from this scooter I saw coming home just now... but its all good in my book....I also noticed that cause I was able to take off from a red light quicker then the cars that some of them had to like gun it and zoom pass me <.< to wich makes me just shake my head and continue along my merry way lol

Most of the people on bikes around here wave, whether they are on harleys or 50cc's. It's just common courtesy between those of us on 2 wheels.

Ask them for a headstart and tell them that they will still beat you there. ;D

lol true...So today I was riding to my friends and this car decides to pass me but almost took me out.. <.< it felt the he/she was only inches from me while they zoomed by me in my lane >.> so on my way back I would just pull off to the side and let people pass if it could really crowded behind me...still had someone floor it when i was taking off at a red light again also cause they had to proove there car was faster then my scooter im assuming....im starting to wonder about drivers now and them doing like 15+ over the speed limit alot...im sorta happy i have a 150cc so im not WOT all the time tryna get away from people o.O;;;;

The speed limit here is treated like a Suggestion. LOL If I do the speed limit, I'll end up as someone's hood ornament. I just stay with traffic but everyone here does 10 over on my route to work. It's posted 45, and I get passed in my cage when I do 55. On the Scoot, the best I can do is about 55 so that's what I run for about 4 miles, each way, every day. The rest of my commute isn't quite as fast. It's 16 miles, each way and it's way more fun then the cage even tho it takes me about 45minutes to an hour to get home (20 minutes in the cage) Along the way, I do get to wave tho.... Usually I get one wave back a day.

Sometimes I wave, sometimes not, always try to return a wave or a beep. I gotta tell you, I prefer the beep, don't have to take a hand off. Lately I've been enjoying waving at pedestrians as I ride thru their quiet neighborhoods on my two stroke, especially those walking dogs. They always wave back. Makes me feel more welcome than a nuisance.

I usually wave but sometimes forget. Seems Harley riders are the least likely to wave at me. Note for newer riders; remember that waving is done by holding your left hand down low and usually making like a peace sign; reason is that holding your hand out or up can be interpreted as right or left turn.

I prefer the single finger wave, down low as you describe, it can be interpreted as you're number 1 but it really means "I'm number one" or at least "Suzuki rules!" (Feel free to enter your bike's brand name there) At least that's how my dad taught me to wave and the interpretation he gave for it. You got like and be proud of what you ride

Yeah I like Suzukis too; I have a friend who is crazy about them (He won't ride it unless it's a "Zuk.") Is pointing one finger the most common type of wave? I sure as hell don't want to be dropping gang signs and have a Crip slap my mom with a ping pong paddle or something.

I think the peace wave or full open hand, aerodynamically horizontal, or vertical is more common. The single finger isn't rare though. I may be wrong but I don't think scooterists (at least in most of America) are often associated with any gang.

Ok; you may be right, but I can picture Katt Williams and Snoop on scoots givin' the signals for a liquor store robbery and a pimpin' ho head count XD I'll stick with peace and hope for the best

If you see those guys scooting, go with an absolutely normal FRIENDLY NONTHREATENING wave. Let them wave first too.

Once I waved at damn near every one I passed by, it was a lot of fun, I didn't care if they waved back or not. Then the next ride out I was kinda like....Screw you guys........It's weird sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.

It was raining here in my area yesterday...approaching from the opposite direction was a large city garbage truck.... what do they do? 4 rapid loud as F___ blasts on the horn... no one was around or turning into their path, no one from my direction was even around me nor in their way... they were just being an ___hole... Had I been wearing helmet cam...I'd have pulled a uturn, got the tag, got their face, and diverted to city hall a few blocks away...
Also yesterday (couple times a week it happens) some lady changed lanes infront of me into my lane... we weren't going to collide... but it was closer than it would have been had I been in a car... she didn't look...I laid on the horn and raised an arm (not the finger) in protest and she made some one armed gesture which I interpret as "I didn't see you" (because she wasn't friggin' looking, I think).
Car drivers hate or dislike those on two wheels, but we are the ones, mostly hyper-vigilant is my guess... we don't wanna get run over and we keep up with traffic because we can maneuver quicker, and we have the power to do it faster without dragging along....we are not usually the one sitting at the head of the pack not noticing the way is clear and the light is green. -------------------
Ok, I do get to balance this post with yesterday in the rain, someone in a pickup truck let a car or two and me (I gave a thank you wave) out infront of them in a line of cars waiting at a red light.
