My wife purchased an 08, new with 2 miles on the odometer, I thought Lin-hai was Yamaha, but have since learned different. Should I be worried? We go a 12 month warranty and support from wild hogs here in lake Mary fl.
What should I do? I would like help with best practices and what upgrades are recommended? Also we did order Michelin tires instead of stock. I was thinking about Kevlar belts and a better exhaust pipe? Thank you all so much for all the great posts here! ^_^ God bless and thank you'd in advance.

Too many people swear by Linhai for you to really worry about it. Find the PDI thread and give the whole bike a once over, replacing all the fluids.
If the carb is clean and seems to run fine it should stay that way for quite a while.
Some minor hassles like CDI's (you might want to keep a spare handy) and other things, but people seem to find them to be very solid machines.

Linhai was under contract to make engines for Yamaha at one time under Yamaha designs. Yamaha taught them a lot about engine manufacturing.
I don't think the engine is a true Yamaha, but a facsimile designed off what they learned from Yamaha about engines and quality manufacturing, generally considered reliable and a couple notches above most Chinese clone engines.
At least that is how I understand it.

I too have a 2008 Lihai main street 300 that I bought for 1500.00 used with 3700 miles on it. I am now approaching 6000 miles and I must say aside from a few minor problems it is a good scooter. It handles like a motorcycle and is very quick and stable on the road. Do the thorough pdi and put some good tires on it. Do a oil change regularly along with gear box oil every other oil change and enjoy the hell out of it. I am having a blast with mine. The power of the Linhai 300 is strong. You made a god buy.
P.S. Make sure you change the antifreeze to a good brand such as prestone etc. Make sure it is formulated for aluminum block engines.

Are you kidding? Most folks with a Chinese scooter would be OVERJOYED to have a true 12 month warranty in the first place, and Linhai is about as nice as you're going to get from a Chinese scooter.
