Come February or March of 2013 I plan to spend some money to try and save some money. I mainly plan to use it for back and forth to work and riding around town, though every now and then I would like to use it to see a friend of mine who lives about an hour to an hour and a half away. I do not go see them that much because gas prices are horrendous and the trike gets over double what both my cars do.
I would love to find someone in town to buy from if the price is right as it seems easier, but more expensive. But you get so much more form it. So if you are in the Houston, TX and surrounding areas (actually east and SE Texas if fine also)and know of a good dealer then awesome. Saying that, if I can not find in town then I plan to buy online.
I love the way the reverse trikes look and can't get them off my mind. So I have been looking around for the better part of a year and have seen two of them so far that have what seems like enough get up and go to really mean something. But the reviews are not always the best either on the dealers or the bikes. I seems to depend on who bought it and the weather or something, not sure LOL.
The first is the Sunny Motorsports MC_D300TKB (Roadrunner?). I like the 300cc aspect and the price is within my total (after most gear) of 5000$. Now I looked around and scooterdepot.us has a C+ rating at the BBB, this seems to have gone up though. I don't like not having much a warranty but I think I would get the same warranty on a used car. I have seen them being sold on other websites but I am unable to find anything about those sites, which is almost worse to me than a C+ rating. Do you know of other sites with a good rep?
Now I have seen the videos of this thing from Sunny and some on Youtube and I like the way it seems to ride. Some people have said they get the bike and it needs major work even after the PDI, but I am wondering if those people checked the bolts and tightened things when they got it or just tried to plug and play per say (I am computer geek mostly). I don't mind getting it and doing an inspection myself, I can find information on that, print it out, and follow it since it will take some time to get it registered and all anyways.
So what do you guys think of this trike and is it worth it?
The second trike is a Kandi 250cc Spyder. This is a little less powerful? Does not have the same top speed and I have not researched is as much as the Roadrunner yet as I just saw it a few days ago. Though the reviews I have seen say they fixed the beginning stability issues with the bike. i also may be able to find a dealer in town to check this one out (or close to town). I like the fact i can go test it, but I like the looks least and its 250cc and not 300cc. But I am a realistic man and if this one outshines the other by a large margin then I know I should go with it.
The only videos I have found on this trike show it going maybe 20 MPH and in a straight line, which does not show me much.
And of course it is within my price range.
Now with the information I have given and maybe your personal opinions what do you think would be best option here? Do you know a good dealer or maybe if I call to buy from one who I should ask for? Thank you for your input.
