I've got a 260 BMS 2008 scooter w/ 13K miles on it and just recently am having a problem. So Im riding for an hour or so, I stop put the unit on the kick stand leave come back, put the kick stand up try starting and nothing happens. Put the kick stand down and flip it up and the engine will start like nothing was wrong - now this has happened recently about 4-5 times and apparently has something to do with the kick stand. Any ideas out there Please advise ASAP Thanks Max

There is an interlock switch on the side stand. It is probably sticking.

WarrenS is correct the side stand has a killswitch just like on your right handlebar. With the Kickstand down it will not allow the CDI to fire. You can disable that safety switch or play with it because it is sticking.

My Burgman has one if those it was annoying since I have to open a gate and close it to get out of my yard. I zipped tied mine closed, That might work for you. I am obsessive about checking my side stand you may fix yours to prevent the dreaded side stand pogo stick maneuver

Those switches can get caked with road grime over time - give it a squirt bath with contact cleaner, naptha, or rubbing alcohol. As scootnwinn says, it's better to fix it than disable it if you're worried about pogo sticking.
