PLEASE HELP !!........ First off let me start by saying, Hello !!! I am new to the world of scooters but not new to the world of motorized vehicles, having spent over a decade building low rider cars ! Any way, I need help guys. My wife recently purchased a CF Moto Fashion 250 with roughly 400 miles on it. It belonged to a professional musician who rode it a bit and then went on tour leaving it sit for some time. I a few months) We have had the carb completely taken out and cleaned. The entire fuel system flushed, at which time when we left the shop it went about 5 blocks and would sputter, completely losing power. When you applied the throttle there was no rpm or revving change it was like you never even twisted the throttle. It would then die. After you waited a few minutes it would start and repeat the entire sequence after about 2 or 3 blocks. We took it back to our mechanic and he ordered an electric choke ( ) and installed it. It still surged while idling (revving up and down) and sputtered, and on the way home from the shop today did the exact same thing. Our mechanic checked the valves and said they were perfect. He blamed it all on the "chinese quality" and said just sell it. Perhaps I am hard headed but I want to fix THIS ONE and I know it can be done. ** OF NOTE**......at the shop he had the fuel line off from the fuel pump to the carb. When this hose was off the engine ran FINE. I just had him order a fuel pump but it wont be here for a week..... this is really nerving racking as both my wife and I are in our late 30s and have gone back to school for degrees. We dont have a lot of money and have already spent $300 at the shop and the scooter is still for all intents and purposes useless. ANY SUGGESTIONS would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your time! Rome and Jill

Cf Moto is a pretty good brand, and for someone like you should be no trouble at all (as long as you have a work space and tools) I was thinking the fuel pump but also check the fuel filter as well. BTW, here is a good place to begin learning what's what in a scoot. Good Luck! x1scooters.com/pdi.html P.S. no need to spend all that cash on a mechanic when fixing a scoot is fairly easy and parts relatively cheap.

Oh yeah, one other thing as far as fuel pumps go, a lot of folks swear by the Japanese made Mikuni pump (which also can be found on Amazon and other scooter parts suppliers)

Those manuals are ok for 50 and 150cc Scooters but aren't worth a flip on the 250's especailly the CF Moto's. The site mentioned before has a step by step service manual for this scooter alone with detailed instructions and pictures, even a great troubleshooter for the problem this poster was having plus is FREE!

Hello all, i read Rome and Jill's post. My scooter is doing almost the same thing. it runs great at first then after about 5 minutes of riding, it starts to lose power, then it will suddenly just stop, no sputter or anything, just stop. It will start right back up again and will run at a very low speed for a bit, then stop again after another 3 or 5 minutes. it does this over and over again which is very scary cause it did this in traffic. so glad there was no car right behind me cause the darn scooter gave no warning it would stop. i have not done any troubleshooting as of yet, only because i was thinking i just need to adjust the valves or maybe it had bad gas. Now j am thinking maybe a bad fuel pump? it is a tran 50cc (see pic) with only about 55 miles on it. I got it from green earth scooters. I am also questing the fuel pump because i also purchased a ruckus clone, 2011 from them and it arrived with a bad fuel pump. they sent out a new one right away and the ruckus clone runs great now. just wondering if you guys have any suggestions as to what I should check first? now i am not sure. also asking cause it seems like this model could be a pain in the bottom to work on. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!! Attachments:

Oh I don't know about that, I have a 250 and I use them. (I think they're especially good when you are starting out and don't yet know your way around.) As for ebay I'm always a little leery about knockoffs, and settling disputes over items can be a real pain.

As for ebay I'm always a little leery about knockoffs, and settling disputes over items can be a real pain. And you don't think Amazon sells knock offs and has no disputes? I quit Amazon when I started recieving another person's purchases just because Amazon couldn't get our names and address correct, they even sent me the person's invoices with personal information and I contacted that person and let them know what was going on, canceled my Amazon subscription and took them off of my mailing list, very scary. Plus Amazon has never had near as many parts as Ebay and I own the first manual you listed up to 200cc; www.amazon.com/Chinese-Taiwanese-Korean-Scooters-200cc/dp/1844257681/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1350169123&sr=8-2&keywords=motor%20scooter%20repair%20books&tag=533643275-20Some good basics on several things but nothing about DC powered CDI systems like on the 250's and nothing on water cooling. Also the electrical is about single phase charging systems and 250's have 3 phase systems. If you've never seen a scooter then it will get you started, haven't opened mine in 4 years and also own 250's three of them. The other manual you listed has very little to offer on 250's also. Also as I said before this scooter has a very good service manual with every detail to this scooter in writing and in pictures and it's FREE!

I'm having the same issue, but after much deliberation, I've concluded that it's my charcoal canister. If I disconnect the gas tank vent line from the canister and start the bike....it runs great. Keeping the line connected...she runs fine for a while, then starts with the accelerating, backiring, decelerating, and cutting off.

You may also want to do a quick test by opening/closing the gas cap when you are having your problem. One of the problems CF Moto had on the V5/V3s was a vacuum lock in their fuel tanks. By opening the tank cap for a moment temp. solved the problem. I believe the problem on those bikes it had a poorly designed location of the tank vent tube. This maybe a simular problem on your model and you are simply venting the tank when you remove the canister tube. Bob
