Yeah snapping turtles are plentiful up here. This however, is the first one I've ever seen attempt a car-jacking ;D

Good plan to have a camera with you at all times. I guess this little fellow was shy and just couldn't come out of his shell.

Had to go back in the house for the camera!! Didn't figure he'd get far. Goes alot faster than I thought though!

Guys it's just a snapping turtle I thought they were common everywhere? This is a small one they grow to be about six feet across the shell. (kidding)!

If any of you see one stay away! I've seen a big one snap a 1" thick oak cane my great Grandfather had. They can streeeeeetch their neck almost around to their tail so don't try to pick one up if you've never seen it done. There is a way but I don't remember how. Don't know why you'd want to anyway. Unless your going to put him in Monique's soup. You have to cook turtle for ever to make it tender enough to eat.

I agree, that thing's pretty scarry looking. I'd be checking under the car everytime I got in or out of it (afraid it might bite my toe off) LOL Today's add on top of this topic page.....no kidding turtlesale.com/turtles1.html....what are the odds???
