I'm looking at 2 options. 1. 2003 Burgman 400 with 19,000 miles. Just serviced (documented), brand new tires, paint is good, $2,000. Or 2. 2011 TBX 260 (with automatic valve adjuster), 1,000 miles, $1,750. Which would you choose or are neither of them a good deal??

I have to go with the Burg even with the high miles. If this has been serviced regularly even 20K is not too much for this scoot, and that's a great price. Thats coming from a Vog 260 owner!!

Brugman hands down just for network suport and engine size alone. Is this a trick question. Haha. The burgman was changed since 2003 but it is still a solid scooter.

The TBX is great with fuel injection, but you'll love the extra power and reliability of the burgman!
The issue is, the TBX rumbles itself apart, if not a good PDI has been performed, and it's not a bike you will want to perform a PDI on, because of it's complexity. I've driven almost 1200 miles on my TBX 260, and only now start to have front brake caliper issues, and head light never worked well. The Odo/speedometer is off too.
The burg has extra glove compartments, looks bigger, and is definitely more powerful! The TBX is good enough to go 75 on the highway, and if you're going 50MPH, it can do 100 mile trips easily. If you're doing lots of highway, or longer trips than 100 miles, on speeds higher than 50MPH, definitely get a burgman. If it's just small trips through town, and you want to save gas (good mpg), the TBX would be better. The TBX is a hundred pounds or more lighter, so easier handleability.
Since it's not a fuel injected TBX, I'd go for the Burgman too!

The Burgman would be the first choice between the two however consider if $1,000 more to get a new Aprilia 250 with a warranty might be a good fit also.

As you can see by my tagline, I went with the Burgman and love her!! Got her a week ago and already have 350 miles on her. She's not new but neither am I and were enjoying the road together. Easily carries my wife and I at 70+mph with no strain whatsoever and I get 10mpg better than my 250!!!
