Hey All,
So its here the first bit of trouble with My 260. I got 8k before I had to fix anything so I guess i should be happy about that.
I left for work everything seemed fine Got about a mile down the road and at a stop it stalled.
After that it starts fine every time, idles fine but the sec I give it the slightest throttle it stalls. As if its not getting any gas.
It rained all weekend and I drove it in the rain the other day and got soaked. It has a full tank of gas but maybe some water got in it. it sat all day yesterday in the garage drying though.
Could it be a fowled out spark plug?
or im hoping not something wrong with the carb.
Its been well kept and maintained with no issues I find it hard to believe there is any gunk in the carb. I also put a small cap full of seafoam in every few fill ups.
Please help me get this figured out this is my main vehicle for transportation.

At 8K, might be time for a valve adjustment- the stalling is a classic symptom of this. If you have checked all the obvious stuff, like a clogged fuel line, possibly, then that could be it. And somewhere around here I believe there is post on how to do it, I think. Though that might have been at another forum, not sure. But it is out there somewhere, that much I am sure of. Edit: ahh yes, it is here, at the very top: scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=30794

Fleetingyouth - My Linhai 260 did just about the same. I did not have any issues until after 8,000 miles or so. My issues started with my CDI going bad which caused the engine to stall. I would wait 10 to 15 minutes and it would start up again only to die few minutes down the road. However, I had multiple issues that were happening that I did not realize while trying to troubleshoot this problem.
Not only was the CDI going bad on me, the ignition coil was going bad and the fuel and vacuum lines were in desperate need of replacing. Once all these were repaired, the bike was working again. I then definitely had to adjust the valves and replace the CVT belt. It was like the perfect storm came in and hit me.
So, be patient and slowly check everything out and don't conclude you are done once you find the first thing that seems to correct your problem. It seems these parts all sort of wear out together.
Good luck with your repairs.

Thanks for all the tips. I havent had a chance to tear it down and look at everything yet since its so much work to get at the engine on the Linhai. Ive checked all the hoses and looked for leas that it so far.
I did notice this though If i let it idle for about 5 mins then give it gas it will go for a few mins before stalling.

Ok so I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it completely. It looked clean but there was a little slime on the diaphragm.
Put it all back together and it starts fine and idled nice. I give it throttle and its responsive no stall.
I took it for a quick ride and noticed its have trouble at coasting speeds or when going real slow with no throttle then giving it just a little throttle. It sputters before kicking in. It only does it if I'm at slow speeds or from a stop and when I just start to give it throttle.
It's almost if its having trouble going from idle jet to main jet? Or could it be a bad spark getting fouled out right as the fuel increases.

Slime on the diaphragm sounds like you got some water in the gas. Might be time to flush it.
Also, at 8k miles, you really should check the valves.

Rain in the gas was my first thought when I posted at the top. The first think I did was drain the gas and put in dry gas for any moisture. I'm looking into a bunch of parts to be replaced now that km at 8k and will def. Check the valves when I start replacing those parts.
Right now I'm looking to figure this part out I rode it to work tonight which is 15miles. On the back roads it would act up since I'd coast or stop a lot. Once on the highway I had no issues all the way up to 70mph.

Im still having this problem. Im going to try and pull the carb and flush the tank this weekend but im still not sure thats the problem. I took it for a 2 hour ride today and noticed it only has issues if i close the throttle plate. if I can keep the plate open it runs fine, if i close it to coast or because of needing to slow down like traffic it sputters. Also if im above 40mph its only a short hesitation under 40mph it sputters. it doesnt sputter from a full stop unless i try to inch forward slow then it does.

I'd suggest you to use seafoam first, to clean the valves, before you do a valve adjustment.

What happens if you raise your idle speed a little?
It still could be a tight intake valve. I would rule that out before looking elsewhere.
