So my 96' Dio needs new piston rings. It still runs, and drives, so everything is still intact, but compression is low.
My question is, can I leave the piston on to change the rings? Or do I have to remove it? I did the same job once, ages ago, on a dirtbike. I left the piston on and all was fine.
Does the same go for Scoots??
Thanks so much!!

it would be ten times harder to do with the piston on then take it off and do it, but it can be done

What would make it harder? Just fitting the rings on? I appreciate the input!

Pull the head and the jug, you don't have to remove the pistiion.

There is no reason to remove the piston.

I bought ring pliers at Oreillys and made it much easier . I have broken one when I was young doing it by hand
