So a CF Moto came in today and it needed a new belt which is no biggie, however I have a habit of checking things like variator wear, weights and also inspect the clutch free of charge. Well when I took the variator off I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor when I saw a full set of 25 gram weights packed in the variator. Does anyone else ride a 250 with weights that heavy? What really suprised me is that the customer said that his bike only topped out at 65mph....

A Fashion , the Helix clone ? Yes that does sound heavy to me . My Echarm which is a 150 not a 250 the rollers weighed 12.2 grams and I replaced with 12g Dr Pulley sliders and its much better . I think my scooter dealer said the CFMoto labeled belts are Bandos , I have over 10,500 miles on the stock one and will get another to replace it to be safe and keep the old as a spare . The CFMotos have a strong clutch too . I watched the MRP review of Echarm on You Tube and he said when they replaced the variator and clutch with Dr P it did not make a diff but it did on another scooter they also did it on that they compared it to. I wonder how CFMoto CVT parts would do on another brand of scooter compared to Hoca or NCY etc . I can hit 75 and the rev limiter in the ECU kicks in . Just thought Id share my info with you since there is not that many CFMotos out there compared to the other brands

Yeah it was the Fashion model. It had 9k miles or so on it and everything was still stock. Belt looked like it had atleast another 3k+ miles of life left but I'm sure the owner will get more since he's a retired veteran. The clutch looked aftermarket since the pads were anodized red but he swore it was never touched and he was the original owner. I'm still stumped it had 25g weights and maxed at only 65mph :/

i run with 22 gram rollers but they aren't stock. not exactly sure what the stock weights were. the loss in top end could be the result of incorrect belt size. my original belt was 37.5 inches in circumference and i now run with a 37 inch belt and have no problem with topping out at over 70 mph. running too rich will also cause a loss in top end.

Stock Helix rollers are about 23. The lighter you go the better it will climb and accelerate. Go heavier at it cruises higher speeds at lower RPM with a slight loss in acceleration and climbing power. CF Moto may have installed 25's so it can have a higher top end speed to make up for the non Honda engine.
What you saw sounds normal to me.
