Just make sure the bicycle computer's cable is long enough. I had issues of it being just large enough to be installed on a ~50cc scooter; Larger scooters may have more space between the wheel and dashboard.

Now days, there are plenty of inexpensive wireless speedometer for bikes so you will not have to deal with all the wires.

I actually installed the magnet on the spokes of my bike, and installed the magnetic sensor on the brake cable. turns out there's an opening of ~1 inch, but if the magnet is on the outside of the center of the spokes, the speedometer reads the results just fine.
I feared that perhaps on the inside of the wheel, the magnet would pass the sensor too slow, and on the outside too fast...
