Hi guys,
Okay so I want to know I have a jonway galaktika 150cc scooter and I was riding it to work the morning and completely cut out on me. I think it was due to a lack of oil maybe as it has leaked a bit before.. So I was doing about 30 and it just cut out, when I stopped there was some smoke coming out the engine and some oil dripping out the engine. It won't start when the ignition is on, I hear a click but doesn't swing.
So my question is one of the following how do I know whether its the conrod, the piston that has seized or the head maybe? How easy is it to fix any of the above if its one of those things, or maybe cheaper to get a new engine..
I am in south africa and struggling to find good mechanics or spares..

What is the oil level in it ? Can you turn the engine over with the kick starter ? If you seized the piston its rebuild time . If no mechanics in your area then you learn how to do it yourself and get some tools . I bought the Haynes Chinese Scooter Repair manual its a must have . If you do not feel up to rebuilding the engine if it is indeed damaged then a new crate engine is a simple bolt in where rebuilding it is very easy to make a mistake

How much will a new engine cost me roughly?
I have the tools and willing to do it myself but don't know where to start.
The kickstart doesn't swing the engine no, it doesn't almost let me kick it it goes down only half way but that is also something that was happening before this incident.
This is my only means of transport and can't really afford the mechanics price aswel.

Remove your spark plug and try gentley kick it with the kick starter. If it is jammed spray wD40 in the spark plug hole let it sit for an hour. Then try again to crank it over. If you can get it to crank over, be sure you have fresh oil in it.
I also have all the parts to rebuild that engine.
PM me with any questions.

I think it was due to a lack of oil maybe as it has leaked a bit before Yea! I also think that may be the same problem with your scooter.
