Out of curiosity I contacted Roketa, and this is the scoop. According to them the MC-54B starting with the vin numbers/letters 5RY has the Honda clone 244cc vertical engine, and the 54B starting with the vin designation LJ4 has a different motor. (He couldn't say just what that was, but using a process of elimination I assume it to be the Yamaha clone 257cc horizontal power plant. Hope this clears things up.

I have a 250B..2008...and it has the Yamaha 257cc engine...and with the 5RY...so they are wrong..oh well...

I too have the mc-54-250b I have the Yamaha 257cc my vin is 5RY also, but whats interesting is my tag on scoot say my engine is a 244cc, this is a pic of an engine I have. (Do they really know what their doing?) Attachments:

I think the individual you spoke to reversed the vin information he gave you.

Guys, all I can say is that is the information the Roketa folks gave me. It could very well be that the factory just pops in whatever of the two engines are available for that days production run and the vin numbers are like the Chinese lotto, you get what you get.
