Hi Guys,
I plan to move back to the beautiful state of Colorado in May and I want to try my hand at having a scooter as my main form of transportation....again.
It was me and my PCX all last winter and for the most part everything was okay....except when it snowed.... a lot.
I was wondering if you guys ever thought of this or are currently doing it? The snow/rain is the two biggest issues I have.....If ATVs/UTVs were street legal in Colorado like they are in some other states it wouldn't be an issue....I'd just get one of those for the winter months. But what about a 50cc??? Just to hit the sidewalks after a bad snow...
I have a Big Ruckus now and a little Ruckus sure would look nice in my garage ;]

I ride in the rain all the time, and I have rode in snow flurries, but snow covered roads I stay away. They do make winter tires for scoots.

In Italy they ride up North all winter long on their scooters. They even have riding blankets that go over the front of the scooter and direct the air from the radiator on the water cooled ones around the rider. The blankets tie or velcro behind the rider and have flaps to put your feet down at stops. Snow and ice tires are available however I might consider a Piaggio MP3 better suited for winter riding.

I'm watching this thread with anticipation. I'm hoping to go car free. Last year I just braved the cold snowless winter we had last year in New England. I can take the bus when it snows, but I really hate the bus.

being in arkansas we rarely get snow but about 2 winters ago we got some 4 feet of it
i had only a scooter, with street tires
i found that if i planted my feet down and used them as skis i could move quite quickly and efficiently faster than the cars even slowing down was probably the most difficult part i had to let of the throttle much earlier than normal (obviously) and used only the rear brake
it really wasnt that hard
had quite a blast, i could only imagine what everyone was thinking as they saw me fly by at 40mph on a scooter, in the snow

That snow scooter with the tire could use a few plastic snowmobile studs in the tire (carbide would chew up the road) and it would probably be even better. But when you are on dry pavement, there goes your ski.
I know a guy who rides his mountain bike here in Minnesota all winter with a set of ghetto snow tires. He bought an extra set of knobby mountain bike tires for winter and put drywall screws from the inside of the tire flush, but the points just barely poking out of the knobs in the tread. He then put a layer or two of duct tape over the screw heads on the inside of the tire to protect the tubes and he corners on ice like he is on rails.

Ya, atv's are legal in Belle MO, if one wishes to license with the city and only ride in daylight hours. Ya, I own a Roketa Bali 250... It would be good to have a atv and scooter.. A license is not State issued but only in the city of Belle... It cost $20 for a sticker placed on front left tire fender and you must carry a slow moving vehicle imbellum on back. I don't believe in riding two wheels on snow but a 4 wheel atv is cool...
