I just bought a 2008 ZN250T-B scooter from a friend at work. He said it ran, but it needed a battery. So I got a new battery, charged it up, and the scooter tried turning over a few times, but then quit making any kind of noise at all. I checked the fuses on the hot/starter wire coming off the battery, and all the fuses in the little fuse box under the seat and they were all good. I don't know anything about scooter mechanics in the least, but I figure the electric start button must be not receiving a signal etc. but again I don't know anything. Please help! Thank you!

Letsbreakitdown a little more. What do you mean "tried turning over a few times"? The starter was turning the motor or the engine was actually sputtering to start? Whenyou say it stopped making "noise" are you speaking of the sputtering?
I'm assuming you didn't try starting so long that it killed the battery again. BTW, never crank the starter for more then 15 secs. at a time and let it rest after a few tries because the starter and sol. get hot and can burn out. You said you checked the fuses....on some scoots(54Bsfor example)there's a fuse connected to the starter sol. I think it's a 30a fuse. If this fuse blows you will get no voltage from the battery. If I remember correctly the lights are dead also. If this fuse is good try crossing the 1 small wires onthe sol. and see if the starterwill spin again.
Once you get the starter spinning again be sure to drainall old gas from the carb and tank. Refill with fresh gas and try starting it. Remember short cranks on the starter and let rest after a few tries.

Sorry for the long reply, apparently my "smart phone" doesn't like your forum lol.
Anyway, the motor itself never tried turning over, the sound I was hearing was only the "whirring" type sound of the electric start. There was never any type of sputtering itself to my best recolection. I tried for a few seconds each time then would let it rest for a sec or two, but only for around thirty- fourty seconds tops. There is a 30 amp fuse coming right off the battery on the hot / starter wire it is good, and there are some underseat fuses in a small fuse box (10A I think) They are all good. I would like to take the plastics off and try to check the starter itself but I am not sure how to remove them. In fact I am not sure where exactly the starter is located on the bike.
By the way the lights and everything work fine, but when the key is engaged, there is a little "cell phone" light that comes on. Anyway any help you can give is much appreciated. Thanks

that scooter has a dc cdi you need a good charged battery to get it started . Get a booster pack and try again . Have you adjusted the valves ? How long has it sat without running ?

If the only thing your hearing is the free spinning ofthe starter then I would think the the starter gear is not engaging. I honestly don't remember but I think these scooters use a centrifcal engagement of the starter gear. You may have to remove the starter and test it off the machine to determine if the gear is coming forward for engagement.
Sorry, I've never had that model scooter so can't advise you on removing the plastic. I know the Roketa 54b had about 1767 screws to remove though. Bob

BTW,witha little luck you might be able to see the starter without removing any plastic but kikely will not be able to remove it. I think on the 257cc engine you can just see the starter by looking up under the machine from under the right rear fender. It is likely a very light gold color with the big red wireon it.
