I replaced the electric auto choke on my 2009 Roketa 50cc scooter twice thinking the first one might have been bad but get the same result. Is there a way to check the auto choke to see if it is working properly or possibly checking to see if there is power going to it? I can take the auto choke out, place my thumb on the opening, crank it a couple seconds and then remove my thumb and it fires up great and runs as long as I give it a little gas. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Connect the choke directly to the battery, and it will slowly begin extending. It should extend about 1/4 inch.

But the hole has to be sealed with your thumb. Leave it plugged in and just take it out off the Carb and lay it on its side and do what you did block the hole with your thumb start the scoot and watch the Enricher, it should start to extend out within 1 minute or so and fully extend out about 1/4 of an inch within 4 minutes or so. If it does not extend or does NOT GET Hot to the touch it is not getting juice. Wile

I'll answer one of your questions, Yes you can get two bad enrichers in a row. I ordered two off EBay for 6.95 each an they were both bad. Got one from mainely scooters for 20.00 bucks an haven't had a problem since. Like we all say, EBay is a crap shoot!

Thank you for the great suggestions. I did take the choke out and started it and watched for it to extend which it did. With that it has power to it and appears to be working properly. So when it is in the scooter is very difficult to start. It spits and sputters like it is trying to go but usually doesn't, sometimes it does. Once it is warmed up it appears to run well and starts if you shut it off for less than 30 minutes. Any ideas on what would be causing the difficult cold starting? Thank You.

similar question.my ruckus clone is tuff to start. (20 - 30 seconds) then it fires and idles. usually will run for 2 - 3 minutes then will die. is it the choke, or is my idle still set too low?

Hard starts with symptoms like yours can be two things, one the idle mixture screw can be set too lean. If the engine struggles staying idling when the engine is warmed up that's certainly a possibility. These sooters are often set lean from the factory.
Two this scooter is from 2009. When was the last time the valves were adjusted? Tight valves can make starting especially difficult.
