Had kinda of a crappy ride today. I usually ride quiet suburban streets (rich neighborhoods). Today I wanted to check out downtown. Everybody was hatin on my scooter, forcing me off 25mph streets because I would only go....well 25. Then whenever I was behind a cager they would take off REAL slow, annoyingly slow, I passed some d-bag on the right because he wouldn't go faster than 10mph. Till I was in front of him (of course). Had a guy pull out of his driveway right in front of me and proceed at 20mph so I just pulled over and waited till I was out of his sight. Then on the way home Admiral D-bag in the lifted chevy truck HAD to prove his rig was faster than my 50cc??? Funny thing is that it sounded like he was giving it every thing it had just to get in front of me and slam on the brakes for a right turn. You sir are a hero! Tomorrow back to the streets lined with MCmansions I know and love.

Yeah, I see this sort of behavior all the time too. I just kinda laugh it off unless it gets to the point of them actually trying to run me off the road. I keep the happy thought in my head "How low must your self esteem be if you need to get an ego boost racing against a scoot?"

I'm sorry you were ill treated by a bunch of dopes, but in the future, don't tangle with a cager. Any time there is a problem between a scoot and cager, the cager ALWAYS WINS. Don't put you life or limb at risk for a stupid piece of garbage, not worth it.
Whenever I ride, I alway try to get out of a cager's way as soon as it is safely possible. I have avoided many possible problems by doing so. Many cagers resent sharing the road with riders and can be dangerously aggressive. Many a scoot and MC rider has been killed or injured because of it. Don't become one of them.

Always keep your eyes open. And carry a large club! LOL If they run me off the road, get uncomfortably close, or just act plain stupid in a threatening way, I give then a notice.

Watch this and decide what the "smart" thing to do would have been. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJTXLuu7_0YSometimes I give them the WTF look as the speed past at 10 over the speed limit wondering where law enforcement is. Oh yeah that's right they're hasslin the guy on the scooter. I wish I could ride downtown just for the sights, but it's just not fun, compared to my rural rides. Check out my "Ride in the country" post.

I agree 100% piccola..But this happened to a friend on his goldwing last year a lady bumped him on purpose and ran him off the road..He saw her down the road and she was stuck in traffic. He ran up to her car reached in snatched the keys and threw them far away and called the police..The da sided with him because he had witnesses..I would not suggest that but i could see his frustration..And she did not find her keys..

Streetracer's/boy racers/whatever - everyone has/will been there and do that. Its a phase. They watch way too much 2F2F and play too much NFS. They drive like what they see on TV.
The big trucks usually mean someone feels inferior/may have closet issues. Expect aggressive driving to cover up the feelings of being inferior/act of (to them) being macho.
The soccer mom secretly wants to beat the kids and hates her husband. She's not even looking at the road.
The old bald guy cant get it up and his Porsche is hiding the comb-over. He's busy pretending. Not driving.
They are all stuck. They are all angry and don't/won't feel the liberation we can have on 2 wheels. Expect yelling. Its just jealousy and its easy to take it out on something smaller.
I think about this as I ride, helps me anticipate what they might do next. Also gives me a bit of a laugh.
Hopefully more of your rides will be more enjoyable in the future.

My dad always said its not you I am worried about out on the road, its all the the other A-holes out there.

Was out earlier, going up the big hill I'm maxed at 30mph. Here comes the (--------) on the Harley, passes me IN MY LANE. It's a four lane divided road speed limit 35. My feelings were really hurt, people preach about the "wave" then you get this kind of crap.

The same sort of thing happened to me the other day. I was in the far right lane of a three lane road, waiting for the light to change. I notice arrows painted in the road ahead pointing to the left, so I'm thinking can I accelerate fast enough to get out ahead of the line of traffic? That's when I see the two teenagers in their beat up truck revving the engine (NO WAY are they going to get beat by a scooter!) So I start revving my engine, and when the light changes they ZOOM off, that's when I slowly (after faking them out) pull in behind them and in front of a gorgeous cream white Bentley (whose owner wouldn't dare risk even a scratch) P.S. I later passed them down the road.

I'm quite happy with my Tao. From 0-25 MPH it accelerates faster than most cars would. By the time I've reached 30, they caught up to me, and unless there's a slow guy in front of me, surpass me. However once I reach 35, the scoot accelerates quite fine to 40 or 42MPH, 45 MPH on a good day. Usually on 35-45MPH roads, I surpass most cars at that speed.

Always expect idiots. Had a few today, rode 55 km, got some stickers and some kevlar jeans. Good fun. A few people had the "Slow Scooter" idea in their head and were not looking at their dash, as I was in the left lane (slow lane) going 60 km/h in a 50 up a hill. This is normally what car drivers do. But no, its a scooter. So 4 idiots get into the right lane and go 70 km/h past me. WTF? I was never holding them up anyway. Didn't bother me in the slightest. One sat right behind me pretty much, If there was a place to pull over I would have. I just pretended he wasn't there, 60 in a 50 is already speeding. If I was in a car, he wouldn't be tailgating.
That said it was a good ride and enjoyed it.

At the risk of advocating a course of action, some of these cagers are using their vehicles as lethal weapons, and I know of only one response when there are no cops available to help. Thus far, I've had no problems, but if I do, I own a couple of these and will find a way to mount one on my scoot: youtu.be/EtqOiKUcT_QYou probably noticed these on Last of the Mohicans. Amazon has the best prices. Buy one before they're outlawed. It's not like we can "turn the other cheek" with these people. Most of our rides aren't fast enough. I too let cars and motorcycles pass as soon as they come up behind me on the highway. In the city, I'm faster than most. You never know.

Hank,
Actually, it's surprisingly small compared to the one in the movie. Its weight feels great in my hands. In the army, a Chippewa friend taught me tomahawk and bowie knife (I still have the 'hawk, with notches that aren't mine), but I find that the two hands required by claymores and gunstock war clubs are more comfortable for me. I'm also partial to pickaxe handles.
I do like your choices, by the way.
