I own a blue IB trike. The PO told me that when it was delivered, the front fender had the paint scraped badly and there are now quite a few scratches on the paint. Has anyone tried to match this with common auto colors available at the autoparts store? Do you have a paint code so I can do some touch up. I really don't want to paint the whole trike although I do have paint & hardener on hand and a gun/compressor. My painting is not real great but is passable but I would rather touch up at this point. If not, I will go down to a paint store where they can color match and buy a can of touch up spray paint. Thanks - wg

If you've got the gear and the time, just paint the whole thing. The paint they use on these things will start getting little bubbles in it and it will start coming off on it's own in the near future. Both of mine are doing this. I plan to repaint them both. I'd like to do a darker metallic blue on the blue one, and although I like the shade of the red one, I might brighten it up a little. Maybe when I take my next vacation......

I have both the paint and associated stuff and the compressor / gun but it takes time and I would prefer to touch up if possible. With all the plastic, it would take a bit of time to prep.

The last time I researched touch up paint for Ice Bear Trikes, I was informed they use the Pantone color pallet, which is mostly used in the US for printing inks. Very difficult to match. I tried calling several different paint suppliers and could only find matching colors was in house paint or equipment ( like computer cases and fridges ect ).
My suggestion would be to take a small body panel off and take it to a place that can scan it and do a computer match to automotive or plastic paint color codes.
Last time I checked with IB they don't have touch up paint and that is when I found out about them using Pantone.

That is kind what I was hoping someone had done already but took a body part to an auto parts store and was able to find a decent match using auto paint... The paint matching places that do computer match generally will put some in a small spray can so I guess that would be my best bet. The overall condition of the paint isn't all that bad.

Yes...take the damaged piece to a body shop...or auto painting shop. They will use a Color Spectrometer and can order you a spray can of exact match paint using the code numbers it comes up with. Typically it will be Dupont...who makes an awesome and durable lacquer auto paint. A bit pricey..like 15 bux or so. But if you are picky about keeping your scoot look new...such as I am..it's worth it..
