I snipped the divider that blocks the gas pump nozzle from going into the tank when I fill up.Now air can vent out as the gas goes in.I had to use a magnet to get the metal piece out of the tank after I snipped it.I still have to fill it slowly but it's a lot less trouble. Attachments:

There was a short burr left so I used a screwdriver and hammer to bend them down.

I hate that thin strip of metal in my gas neck. It sucks. I have to fill it super slow. Not that it takes a long time to fill my small tank, but at the rate the gas flows the way I have to do it, it just takes forever or it will overflow. I've been thinking about trying this.

the easiest thing to do is take a pair of needle nose pliers and just bend the strip so it is edge on to the gas nozzle. it bends easily and takes less than a minute to do. That stops the kick back and splash.
I'll try to remember to take a pic.

I actually like that bit of metal down there. I use it as a measure of "full," so I don't overfill the tank and have gas go into the emissions (which I have not removed yet).
