got up early Saturday morning.went to 24/7 super Wall-mart on the way out about a 6 mile ride.my scoot did good by the time i got there the fan kicked on and i turned scoot off and went inside.on the way home i really open the scoot for the 1st time i hit 80 on the speed odometer before i got home i looked down and i was a tad shy of redlining on the meter(WTH) couldn't have been 70 outside by the time i got home my linhai was spewing water out the bottom i figured the reservoir tank was over flowing.as i pulled in the driveway the fan was not running seriously not running Ive got 2000 miles on the bike i just came back from a 400 mile trip a week before that n it never got above 1/2 way mark in 98 degree weather(Florida)..anyways Ive checked the fuse no go it's good nothing wrong with fuse but the dang fan will not come on ...any ideas ill take em all getting frustrated I'm ready to take it out back and throw it in my trash burn pit

Maybe a bad temperature sensor?

Or a loose connection to the sensor. That was an issue on my bike.

If all the coolant leaks or gets blown out the temp sensor may not work as it has to be in contact with coolant, that is also true with some autos. It may have been showing hot while you were wide open and there was still some coolant in the system and you just didn't notice it. I don't mean to be critical but I don't understand why people buy small engine machines and then run them wide open as though they are they are made to do that. Even racing machines don't run long wide open. If one wants to run 80MPH then buy a machine that is made to sustain that speed easily. There aren't many machines that can run wide open for very long without overheating, that even includes airplane engines.

Most of the time, highway riding for me is done at 60mph or so on my Aeolus 300. I'm a big guy, 280# about. On short hops my scooter doesn't get over half on the highway, sometimes for more extended periods at that speed it may get 3/4 or so. Doing 70mph (toll road) for 10 or 15 min will get me near the top of the scale in temp. If traffic isn't bad, and no one is on my butt in the right lane, I can back it off a bit from that to 65 or 60. Temp will come down a little. Ok, I guess I'm a little long winded.... Is there a 'chance' that running on the 400 mile trip might have knocked loose some gunk that may or may not have gotten out when you got the scoot and did your drain and flush a few times on the coolant with clean water (and maybe flush n fill) ?

I've had my Linhai 300 about 6 mo. now and the temp gage acts about as yours does. I am a small guy so that can make a difference, though I do run a 32 inch windscreen that I am sure takes considerable power to push at 60 (GPS) MPH which is 68 on the scooter speedo. I do sustain this speed for near 100 miles at a stretch in Southern AZ temps of near 100 with no problems. I now have 2400 miles with very few problems on this machine. When new, because of reading this site I figured it may need a complete coolant flushing, which I did. The coolant I first drained out was coal black fluid, upon seeing that I was certainly glad I decided to flush the system. I used Prestone super radiator cleaner according to the instructions. The anti-freeze coolant is now clear and clean looking. Would it overheat at wide open throttle for miles on end, probably, that is if it didn't blow a rod or burn a piston first. Even if it didn't, it would undoubtedly shorten the life of the engine considerably. If I want to ride faster I ride my HD Sportster. I do love this scooter. I ride it nearly every day, if not for errands then just for fun.

Hard to believe all that happened. (Linhai is usually better than that) Jeez! Sounds like you need a "Scoot whisperer" rather than a mechanic.
