I have just found an 06 Burgman 400 with 4000 miles that is better than showroom condition. I am actually looking for a 07 model or younger because of larger wheels, more horsepower and more stylish body. Does anybody know if the 07 is REALLY a whole lot better than the 06 or is it just hoopla. Thanks, Slowlane

Well you answered your own question, 07 larger wheels and more hp and the body well they are not that different. But with 4000 miles sh!t that is not even broken in yet it is like new, and in premo condition and cheap what the heck, they are still very good quality scoots. Wile

I think the pre 07's are more stylish than the newer ones. Notice how the line from the rear continues up to the front. The older ones have cleanable filters and owner adjustable valves. The new ones have replaceable paper filters and valves that need adjustment by a dealer. The downside is that these need to be done more often. The new one's body has been copied by the Chinese so if you want one that people wont think is Chinese get the older one.

Slowlane, get the older one it's lighter, easier to work on it does have 33hp and you can pile the miles on.

Yah, I can testify! My BMS burgman clone has only 260cc, and drives 80MPH with ease! Accelerates faster than most cars, until 75MPH. With the burgman, you got another 130cc extra, and they accelerate to more than 110MPH. Nowhere would you be able to use that kind of speed in USA.
So even if it's 30HP, or 45HP, you won't notice much of a difference, only on a parcours or when racing against a similar model.

The 07 had some issues of their own which were kind of addressed in 08. I own a 05 and it has been great. Here is the link to the Burgman forum that I am a member also: burgmanusa.com/forums/index.phpLots of good Burgman info there! ;D I don't think you can go wrong with a 06 Burgman, the new 07 style has a longer valve adjustment period but must be done with changing shims. The old style simple to adjust, but it requires some tupperware to be taken off.

LOL! I hate that about these scoots! You basically have to gut them completely in order to be able to reach that one screw you need to reach! Then mount them again, only to find that in order to mount screw 4 you have to unmount screw 3, which is in the way of screw 2, which has some carburator or other thing in front preventing access to it....
The worst is actually the plastic... If you scratch your engine or chassis, no one will really see. If you crack your 'tupperware' everyone sees!

The Pre-07 models do need more maintenance and don't have as much power but are still great scoots. If the price is right do it. There are tons of videos on YouTube to do the work yourself.

With the burgman, you got another 130cc extra, and they accelerate to more than 110MPH. Nowhere would you be able to use that kind of speed in USA. Um, my 400 can't pull my lardy bulk anywhere near that fast. My fastest GPS-verified speed was 88mph, and that was in a thunderstorm and I ended up in 1985. Long story, I have heard of the later model 400s exceeding 105mph with thin young guys riding. Not sure if these older ones would do that. I think under ideal conditions I might be able to exceed 90. But more importantly, as you said, that does not matter for road driving. Getting up to 80 is no problem at all. Beyond that, it begins to fizzle out. But that's fine. The nice thing about the Burgman compared to most 250s: similar weight, similar fuel economy. I consistently get 65, which is as good as many 250s, and not much worse than the others. Can't go wrong with a B400, it can do it all. But I do want a 150 for local hops.

I see no reason to pass on the 06. If the price is right, I would get it tomorrow. I do however, disagree with the fizzle out part. Mine did not. I would hit 90 with my big behind and all before it started to lose the pop. the 03-06 are slightly smaller in the cc department and get slightly better milage too. There are many riders out there with 30k plus on them and they are not too difficult to work on. For tutorials, check out BurgmanUSA.com

My K05 runs out of steam at 95, but thats a bit fast for the 13" tires, maintaining 80 on a regular basis is no problem, My friends K03 650 does not out run me by very much since the installation of the 15 gram rollers, as long as he does not use his power mode.
