Fantastic forum. My new Jonway MC 54b 250cc shakes at 55+mph. I have searched for answers but have not found any. The tire appears to be "out of round" but it is hard to tell. Any suggestions? Is it typical to need to replace the cheaper Chinese tires? Thanks

I hope you don't mean engine vibration! Under shaking, you mean up/down on the front wheel? If so, it's easy to unmount the wheel, and go to a tire store to balance it. The rear wheel is more a pain. Or do you mean your steering bar is shaking left/right? If so, your frame could be compromised, or built with a too low quality!

I have a a 2011 Jonway yy250t. Similar to yours, both the origional tires had very wide, deep groves that went across the tread. I replaced both tires and no more shaking. Mine shook above 45mph, was un-nerving to say the least.

Get the tires balanced as almost all scooters do not come balanced . I did on my Echarm and wow it was much smoother especially at highway speeds . Premium tires ride better then the OEM ones do and is a great upgrade along with being safer too

Fantastic, thank you all. The problem isn't horrible. I will buy new tires soon. Have a beer on me, but don't drive your scooter afterwards.

Harbor Freight has a balancer for 50 . Cycle Gear has a high speed balancer if there is one near you . Do not go to a car tire shop as their equipment will damage your wheels

Brent.
You have to get yourself some "Dyna Beads" You can get them on line for $20.00.You place them in the tires through the air valves. They will smooth out your whole ride. Just like our car tires need balancing, so do our scooters. I just put some in my 250 and what a difference. I got the beads and the applicator for the $20.00. It'll be the best 20.00 upgrade you'll ever make.
Everyone should do it. RP

I also used Dyna Beads, but it didn't help much because the tire tread pattern was so bad, for me, new tires was the answer. I will try to get some pics tomorrow, the groves were so large it was like riding over dowels in the road.

same here....bought a brand new 2011 YY250T....it rides fine under 55mph, but after...seems like I am riding through an earthquake.lol It does shake / vibrate a lot over 55mph. I just started looking for some good scooter tires, guess I'll shoot for some michelins....glad to have found the issue. I could not figure it out either...Thanks guyz!!! Awesome forum.

Mine always shakes. Windshield I never could get one screw in at assembly. So I left it off and now the windshield vibrates a little. I grab it every once in a while to make sure that is what I hear. Yep, pretty quiet when pull on it. Mine begins to shake some at 65 mph.. Sort of use to it.
