I dont know where dealers are in my area of chicago. I saw one but its out of my price range by about a thousand bucks. So yeah, im not trying to spend over 1200.
I see online there are scooters for that price that includes shipping. Just dont know which websites are scams just to get your money and those that ship the product will still be around in the future if you need assistance.
If its a cheaper scooter im willing to buy extras & replace parts like hoses or spark plugs etc
Any suggestions?

Hi danablaf, If your going to buy from an online dealer, The following is my opinion.
1. You should be a mechanic
2. If your not a mechanic be willing to learn, and make the investment in the proper tools to properly maintain your scoot.
3. Regardless of any warranty they tell you, be prepared for parts and labor to come out of your pocket right from the start.
4. I don't care if they told you they will give your scoot a PDI, Be ready to do it again when it arrives.
5. Don't be cheap on the PDI, Change the spark plug with a good quality one ( NGK ), Change the rubber hoses with good quality hose, do a valve adjustment do it right from the start, change the oils, both gear oil and engine oil..
If you do as above your experience should be a reasonably good one, your scoot should run well and give you many miles of enjoyment.. I'm not trying to be mean or discourage your purchase, just all to often we all have seen many here disspointed in their purchase and blame the bike... When in truth it's the owners lack of understanding as to just what these little scoots require being fresh from the factory to run...
I do wish you luck in your purchase, and we are here to help as much as we can, but always remember "It's your butt in the drivers seat" ( an old pilots saying ).. Meaning you can call for help but ultimately it will be you that deals with the situation... And please when you do get your scoot post pics :-)

I'm currently in school for Automotives , Im about to start electrical systems & Steering and suspension. Just completed intro to Automotives where we went over basic systems like engine, brakes, trans, etc but nothing in depth. So this would work out perfect being able to work on a bike an only further my experience And replaing a few things from the get go shouldnt be a problem especially if it pays off in the long run But is www.scooterdepot.us/moped-scooters-p-1-c-31/150cc-moped-scooters-p-1-c-52.html safe? Meaning I will get the bike & wont get scammed out of 1100 bucks.

Scooterdepot I'm afraid does not have a good rep, Inkyben and several others have had problems with them, also the BBB has a bad rating on them as well, don't take my word for it, check it out you will see all the complaints they have.. I purchased mine from Greenearth scooters. My only problem i had with them really was after the purchase. I did get my scooter in a very timely manner, but there were problems with it and i didn't feel they handled it in a very responsible way.
There was another poster that recently purchased from them, I guess his experience was better than mine so perhaps they have improved, any way its worth a look... I know Mainpeace LLC sells them to as to other advertisers here.. All are reputable and will do there absolute best to make your purchase a good one... Worth checking them out

online sellers are all the same.....you will get exactly what you pay for I disagree with this statement. Not ALL online sellers are the same. Just like anything else, there are good sellers and bad ones. There are those that stand behind their product and offer great service and there are those that are bottom feeders. The folks in the banner ads above have shown they do what they say. There are also more great dealers within this forum. The key is to do some research, forums like this one are a great place to start, the Better Business Bureau is another. Once you have sorted out a few, make a phone call to them and ask questions, you can tell a lot about a company by one phone call. Another plus is buying from a company that has a store front ( B/M Store) and works on what they sell as well as sells online. Hi danablaf, If your going to buy from an online dealer, The following is my opinion. 1. You should be a mechanic 2. If your not a mechanic be willing to learn, and make the investment in the proper tools to properly maintain your scoot. 3. Meaning you can call for help but ultimately it will be you that deals with the situation... And please when you do get your scoot post pics :-) I agree with most of what larry said. Warranty wise and PDI done by the dealer are only as good as the dealer themselves. A good dealer will stand behind his product. Most Chinese scooters come with a parts only warranty. Shipping and labor you have to take care of. Even I disagree with the customer paying shipping on warranty parts, that seems to be the norm and I haven't yet found a Distributor that pays shipping on warranty parts, may be one out there I just haven't found them. If you do not have a shop that works on scooters you will have to do it yourself. Besides a good selection of tools, I recommend you get a scooter repair manual. One that we use is a Haynes Book Part number 4768. Any auto parts store that sells Haynes manuals should be able to get it for you. If you can not find one locally here is a link for one www.partsforscooters.com/172-34-Chinese-Taiwanese-Korean-Scooter-BookGood luck on your searching and purchase. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair

Do avoid Scooter Depot and Happy Scooters..as there are folks on here STILL waiting after 3-4 months for their MCO(paper work needed to register and tag your vehicle) Those 2 sites also charge 100+ dollars for a 1 year warranty(which is already covered by the manufacturer) They also have other hidden charges...so your 800 dollar scoot ends up costing 1,000-1,100 bucks! Then some folks here have had to wait well over 2 months to even get the scoot. As they say.."Buyer Beware"....

A b&m dealer who offers shipping is by far the better source to do business with due to their high standards and integrity. Also, real after sale support is only offered by b&m dealers......my apologies for generalizing

Jim,
I have to take issue with you on paying for shipping for warranty parts. In the almost 10 years we have been selling scooters we have never once charged either a dealer or a customer to send them warranty parts. Also we have never asked for the defective part to be returned to us . I do believe that pretty much everybody else does charge the customer to ship warranty parts.

Carasdad,
Yes Scooter Depot/happy/all the other names they have called themselves is about the worst. However there is not a single manufacturer of Chinese scooters that offers a warranty of any sort. It is the distributors that actually chooses to offer a warranty or not. Once in a while the good manufacturers (like ZNEN) will send us parts for free if a defect shows up on a large number of models consistantly. However it is rare. Also none of the other factories we have used over the years have ever sent us any parts to cover defective ones. That is one of the reasons we sell the ZNEN product, better out of the box, less issues and a factory that is resposive to distributor needs. Hard to find in China as they have not grasped the American way of doing business yet, at least most of them.

Also beware of online sellers who simply list a ton of different scooters on their site that they get from many different distributors. Most of them never see the scooters they sell , nor do they stock any replacement parts. Once they get an order they call around to a bunch of distributors until they find one and have it shipped right from the distributors warehouse to the buyer. If the customer then needs a part under warranty they have to call the distributor they got it from and then hope that they will actually send the part to the customer free of charge. Many times the online reseller has to pay to get the part and ship it and they do not like doing that because it just kills any profit they made selling the scooter. These guys operate on very slim margins because they compete agaist a bunch of guys just like themselves who often try to undercut each other to get a sale. Most of these guys do not last more than a year or 2 until they give up and try a different line of work.

I prefer brick and moter instead of online . This way you can see , hear and ride it before getting stuck with a lemon . Best of all its ready to ride and enjoy already Don't let your guard down even if it is a brick and mortar dealership. Most of the time the scooters are more expensive. The dealers have more overhead (Monthly lease, utilities, employee wages) so when you walk in the vultures will attack and then move onto the next victim, and my experience there is no customer service. I would like to think there is dealers who would prove me wrong, but I have experienced none in the Indianapolis area. So in short the best advice is from the other dawg, get educated, learn some basic mechanics, know that you will spend money after your purchase, and consider your purchase like going to the casino, if you really don't have the money to gamble with put it back in your pocket and spend it on something else. RIDE SAFE EVERYONE

I got my scooter (Roketa-75-150) from Power Ride Outlet, and had no trouble at all. I got it in little over a week, used their chat support for some assembly help, and was able to get them to fill out the necessary paper work so I could have it registered. I have had it for little over a year now, and the only trouble I have had, is the fuel filter and head light. I replaced them both and we have been great. I put the front end of it together, for I received it partially assembled, and I actually learned a lot doing it. It took my girlfriend and I about 3 days to get it all together, the instructions were just pictures. I used the scootdawg forum and other online resources as well. I have over 1200 km and still going and loving it! My girlfriend got a Kymko People from a guy on Craig's List, so we scoot together now all over. We have a great time. I will get a picture of her scooter and put it on soon. Good luck! Attachments:

It is a crap shoot.. A few months ago when I was looking to buy, I started out looking at a B&M dealer. I found the scoot I wanted, but my frugal nature lead me to snoop the inet for a better deal. I looked at a few distributor/drop shippers knowing that I had the skills to perform the PDI. Alot of the drop shippers had less than desirable BBB ratings, so after further investigation via youtube I decided to plug my nose and click the order button.
I don't advocate anyone doing as I did to garner the best deal warehouse to door, but as fate would have it..my experience with Green Earth scooters has been a very good one. I got my scoot at a great price, shipped for free and excellent aftersale support. Would I buy from GES again? Well if this purchasing experience is any indication; and I think it is..I would say yes. Already eying a Bashan (Dash) 150 for next spring.
