Anyone know the value of a 2011 YY250T with 2500 miles..? My insurance wants to give me $672 for a totaled bike. Really it's just the front plastic's, headlights and windshield that I need and can't seem to find them..

Last year I totalled my '08 Roketa 250 54b. It had 600 miles on it and I was the org. owner. My insurance paid me $2525 - 250 deductable and $75 was for my helmet. So they paid me $2200 for the bike. That was for a 3 year old bike. I have State Farm. Annual premium was $300. You decide if your insurance is screwing you. BTW, I only paid $2200 for the bike new. Ask them if they are including tax and regestration as well. Won't make a big difference but it was included in my settlement above.

Edit: If you didn't know I dumped the bike you would have to look really hard to know where the damage was. As I told the adjuster if I didn't have good insurance I would fix the damage myself with a can of wax and a new turn signal lens. He kinda asked me if I wanted to total it and I thought I'd like to upgrade anyway. So someone got a great deal from the salvage yard. Bad thing is in my state I can't rebuy the salvage. And the salvage sale was 3 miles from my house. The bike sole at salvage for $275.

I didn't realize but my deductible was $500, don't remember how they talked me into that one.. I was really pissed off. The salvage was $290 and the value for a used 2011 was $1350. I paid $1899. so once all these things were deducted, my check would be $672 and now I have to get a salvage title. The only things wrong was the front end was busted, windshield, the vented piece that held the windshield on and the front panel holding the headlights and turn signals. It's all held together with black duct tape. Anyone know where I can get plastics and headlights..?

Just a small aside:
I have a similar clone (roketa bali 250) and can I just say that having never owned a scooter as of last week, I can say these things (while very well ripped off) are still built in Chinese factories at as low a cost possible. The welds were sloppy, the bracketry flimsy / misaligned, the paint sloppy, the torque off, the bolts cheapy, etc. I am saying that you MAY want to really tear down to the frame and REALLY verify the underlying carriage and front end are still "good". I found so many little hiccups ripping this bike down that if I had hit anything, even something like a deer, I would be concerned about the structural integrity of the bike. Not to be a debbie downer, just a concerned realist.

It sounds to me like buying insurance on a China scoot other then liability is a waste of money unless you are riding a $20,000.00 unit. For my liability and uninsured motorist on my China scoot it cost me less then $100.00 a year. If you pay $300.00 a year you will have the cost of the bike into insurance quickly and if something happens on your own account it doesn't pay very much anyway. Be aware though, when you try to buy liability only the sales person will try their best to sell you more insurance as they are working on commission.

I think the real question is who you insure with as to weather you will be paid what thebike is worth if you total it. In my situation where I paid $300 but had just ordered the policy. And it arrived in the mail the morning I have my crash. While the policy was in force I hadn't paid for it yet. I crashed on a Saturday morning and on the following Monday morning I reported the accident and canceled the policy. Bottom line they paid me my $2525 and I never paid them a dime for the policy.
