You can test the cranking speed without the spark plug installed. If it still drags as before you can expect some sort of mechanical problem or a weak starter. If it turns over quickly after removing the plug then you could have a weak starter or need a valve adjustment. If you didn't fully charge the new battery before installing it you should. They aren't going to charge them selves sitting on a shelf.

Starter possibly dying? Maybe the solenoid? It is possible for the solenoid to have alot of resistance. Are all connections clean?

Solenoid is possible and I could continue on with possibilities. My post was intended to separate the problem into two categories. Then when one is chosen you can continue on with more specific diagnostics such as ohm readings for components. Inspection of electrical connections, manual inspection of starter, etc etc for this branch.
