The muffler on the trike I just bought (150cc Icebear) had the welds on the baffle break and the PO removed the baffler. It is a tad loud and I would like to get a new muffler. Is the engine on the IB 150cc a GYB type? (if so, what does that mean?). Can anyone point out a place to purchase a replacement muffler?

The head pipe is not bent at the correct angle and subsequently put a lot of pressure on the hard mounted muffler. The muffler is spot welded to a mount bracket at two points and and the head pipe needs to be bent hard over to get the muffler to where it is supposed to be. The pressure put a lot of stress on the welds and they both broke. The previous owner told me that the stuff inside the muffler all broke loose and sounded like marbles rattling so he removed the end and pulled out all the guts. He put the rear end back on using epoxy (ran all over when it got hot) and hose clamp. The trike is just too noisy to be enjoyable.
Is it possible to purchase another muffler? I contacted Icebear directly and got no response. I would be concerned about putting another of these mufflers on as the new one would have the same issues as the first... I searched for a replacement but the odd size of the inlet end make finding a replacement pretty much out of the question. Does anyone know a parts seller who might sell an Icebear 150cc muffler and the approximate cost? I would probably mount it differently, perhaps using much longer mount bolts to space it where the head pipe didn't stress so much.
If not, I may try and get the end off that was epoxied and stuff the can with fiberglass and hang it with a different hanger; such as a P clamp and wire the end of the clamp to the bracket that holds the rear body assembly.
Any hints, tips or ideas would be appreciated.

I have seen 150cc GY6 "performace" mufflers advertised on the internet and even e-bay. Don't quote me here but I don't think they are model specific. I would just try searching for gy6 150cc muffler.
Oh, and I don't know where your exaust pipe connects but on my IB 150cc Viking it connects to the engine at the bottom. It is the closest component to the road at about 3" off the ground. This really grates on me because if I go over a particularly high speed-bump I can hear the full weight of the Trike comming down on that 1" diameter steel pipe! Now I am not a Rocket Scientist but I know that pipe won't take to many blows like that!
Sorry if I am off subject but I thought this was a good segue to my muffler warning (at least for Viking).

The problem with the IB trikes are the model names.... EVERY seller seems to rename the darn things and there doesn't seem to be a model designator on the trike itself. I thought mine was a PST150-7 and ordered a muffler which I just installed. It is obvious that the muffler bracket was for a trike with the muffler coming off the left side (as you sit on the trike) while mine is on the right side. This doesn't disappoint me as the bracket WAS hard mounted to the frame and has ZERO chances of survival. I tied mine up as a temp measure with cable ties to support the weight of the muffler on the head pipe. I am almost 100 percent sure that NONE of the universal performance mufflers will fit on the IB head pipe which is about 2.6" ID if memory serves and the muffler is retained by springs. The little trike is now a lot more quiet as it was OBNOXIOUSLY loud before. FYI: My muffler doesn't drag. It is well over 8" off the ground.

Parker2100? Curious but what side does you exhaust exit?

I am really glad you worked it out. You think the twist ties are a permanent thing though? They look alright but maybe something a little more permanent, you think? That really is an awesome fix! Congratulations!!!
Yeah well, you have to expect to do some mods unless you want to just get another of what you had from the factory (psst...that is why they do it...shush...big secret).

I got mine very quickly and with no hassles from Jim of Rapid Repair. I do plan on replacing this little guy with a 300cc new one once the missus has fully committed to riding on the street. Problem is, I get such a kick out of riding the little trike I hardly ride my Triumph America or Goldwing hehe. I am going to find something more permanent to mount the muffle. A very long P clamp will probably work or even some wire would probably have been better but I don't have any stainless wire on hand.

George,
Take a look at your Goldwing and the way the muffer mounts under the bag. That might give you an idea for a cushion mount.

Wiredgeorge,
On my Viking (PST150-8) the exhaust exits the engine on the bottom. Dead center bottom of the engine. Then exists through the muffler on my right.
The Trike is 5" off the ground but the exhaust pipe comes down about 2" (w/ 3" total clearance) so if I hit road debris or even a high speed bump, I am positive that it will eventuality snap the exhaust pipe. Not happy about the placement.

Jim, the muffler is directly below the bikes frame so there are good hanging points. I will eventually find some more permanent solution but the muffler is steady now and has some give when I hit a bump. My head pipe comes off the top of the engine and over it to the back/right where you see it in the pics. Clearance is fine. The PO told me he had just changed the oil but I am going to change it and the hypoid oil and then try and fit the back fender portion which wasn't mounted when I bought the trike. The PO claimed they liked the looks of the trike without the rear fender/cover better than with it mounted. I also have to find an NGK plug to replace the Chinese spark plug on the trike although it hasn't caused any issues.
