Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and had a question that I hope can be easily answered.
My sister has a Stella125 and I'd like to ride it while here in California; I have a CO drivers license though and no motorcycle endorsement on it.
Can I still use my license to ride her scooter or would that not be possible. I don't want to get a Cali license. How do I ride here for the next month without running into trouble with the law?
I'll only be taking it on small roads, no highways. The scooter is registered in Cali and under her name, insured and everything.
Thanks for your time!

I think you would need the endorsement on at least your CO license to be legal while operating it on public roads in that state. no need to get a CA license but you would need the m endorsement what so ever as that scooter is classified as a motor driven cycle there. www.chp.ca.gov/html/motors.html

The Co license would not be a problem, but you need a Motorcycle license to operate 50cc or more that do not have pedals.
Go take the written test and get a permit. Im telling you its very easy.

So, beachbum, to be clear: I can get a California motorcycle endorsement on my CO license? I don't understand how that would work. Sorry if it's a dumb question, I've never had to have a license to scoot in my life!

Oh I see. Unfortunately, I am in California already, hence my dilemma. It probably wouldn't be horrible to just ride anyways. Do the cops like to pull scooters over out here?

Actually, they pretty much leave scooter riders alone.
I would call the DMV and see if you can get a Cal. permit with your Co. License.
I can't think of a reason why they couldn't.

I would let your sister who owns the scooter make that decision. because if you are pulled over its HER scooter that would be impounded not yours.why take the chance. i certainly wouldnt.
