Not back to the forum, I just registered here for the first time. Back to riding. Most recently, I had a Burgman 400 and a Kawasaki KLR650. I crashed the KLR in 2009 and broke the HELL out of my leg. Thought I was done riding, and so did my wife. She's mad as hell at me for buying this 2004 Silverwing; was actually thinking about divorce for a bit there. I pick it up tonight or tomorrow night. Got a helmet on order, it should have arrived today. Hi-Viz jacket is in the trunk of my car. Maybe I'll have some more to say here shortly. See you around!

Scoots tend to be safer in that regard, as your legs are on the inside of the bodywork.

Scoots tend to be safer in that regard, as your legs are on the inside of the bodywork. I think you're right here. When I crashed the KLR, my leg broke when the bike fell on top of it. My toe, or the outside of my boot, caught the pavement and twisted my foot around backwards. I may not have broken my leg, had I been on a Silverwing.

Silverwing is a wonderful bike! I contemplated buying one myself, but could not afford it! Now I'm happily riding with a BMS TBX 260; a bugman clone, and about the only 250cc scoot I'd recommend (the 2012 model, simply because they have upgraded brakes, better suspension, and EFI, and are much safer than most other chinese scoots! the braking distance is barely acceptable, but it's much better than the rest of the chinese scoots, but if I had the money, I'd buy the silverwing, or a burgman 400.
