Hi guys I just inherited a 2007 sunl 250 scooter with no compression so I took it apart and it needed piston, cylinder etc. my problem is how to set the valve timing since the mark on the flywheel doesn't agree with the piston since it is not on TDC it is about a 1/8 of a turn from being TDC? There are two marks on the flywheel or crank or whatever it is you look at in that small hole. All of them I have ever done the piston had to be at TDC with the valves closed so what is the trick to getting the cam chain in the correct position? Thx Mr.Bill

Check the flywheel bell for any marks, there should be a T on it and then the case for an arrow or a line. Those two should line up when the piston is at the top of its travel. If you have no marks on the flywheel then just move the piston tot he top of its travel ( verified with a small screwdriver touching the top of the piston till it travels no higher) and your valves are both closed. You also need to look at the cam sprocket and look for lines or three holes. The lines should be parallel to the top of the head. If there are holes then the middle one needs to be pointing straight up in relation to piston travel. Get all these marks lined up by changing the position of your chain over the cam sprocket and you've got it in time.

You obviously have never timed a 250 linhai, no lines, no holes only a V notch type mark on the flywheel and a single notch on the cam. Here is some help so when you give out advice next time you'll be in the know. ;D scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=30794
