I'm looking to replace a broken down (engine shot) JmStar 250. In my mind, I'm thinking two directions. 1, going with a used Burgman for reliability and longevity or 2, purchasing a new Chinascoot 250. What would be the consensus between these two options (I am not a mechanic so I take my bike in for most work, including oil changes).
If I go with option 2, what would be the consensus for the best online seller? Thanks for any info provided.

There is no contest. If you have the money, go with a used, low mileage Burgman.

I have both, go with the Burgman.
By your own statement if an oil change is not for you, then finding service for the 250 could be difficult. Most all motorcycle shops will at least change the oil and do general service on the Suzuki.

Burgman, hands down! I know one for sale in Hialeah, a 2011 model for $3600; don't know how many miles, but, man; it's so much better than a chinese scooter; that is, if you can dock down the $$$!
We're all looking for great buys, and the BMS TBX EFI 260 is a close copy to the burgman (only half the power, and half the cc's); but like all chinese scooters, you can expect more than double the trouble! Suzuki is a known brand. Usually Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda bikes work perfect from the moment you buy them, until a good 10 to 15 years in the future.
While you can buy 2, 3, or even 4 chinese scooters for that same price, you won't have the ride quality, and solid reliability of the bigger brands, not to mention stability and improved performance!

I went through a rx150i, and a 260 Reflex "clone" before I settled down and bought a used Burgman 400. The Burgman is twice the scooter of any Chinese knock off. If you are not mechanically inclined go with a lightly used Japanese scoot. Honda Reflex, Yama ha Majesty, or Suzuki Burgman. I purchased my 2005 Burgman for $3000 in 07 with 7000 miles, I love it. No mechanical problems to date.
