I just checked the oil on my 08 Linhai Aeolus 260. With the engine running, I removed the plug and and got blasted by bursts of air and oil mist. I shut off the engine and waited a minute, then checked the oil level. It's right on the money. The scoot seems to be running just fine.
I did some searches on this forum, and the only mention of air blowing from the fill hole referenced a twist in the crankcase vent hose. That will be the first place I check, but are there any other known causes of something like this?
I just did a major PDI-like workover last weekend (at about 900 miles--I bought it used), and it's possible I left that vent obstructed in some way.
Thanks everybody!

its common to have oil come up out of the fill hole if the cap is off when the engine is running. I have a straight tube without any obstruction from my valve cover and I get splatters aswell if the cap is off. If anything its a sign of good compression hehe.

Thanks Ben. If I'd have noticed it doing that right out of the gate, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But yes... compression for sure.

HAHAHA, yep it happenes to the best of us. I changed the oil and got distracted and I then took the CVT cover off and changed my weights put the belt back on and variator and then started it to check the cvt. Well I heard this whoosh sound and oil was flying out 8 feet in the air got it all over my tool bench and tools and garage floor what a mess(HAHA). Wile

I'm just happy I don't have to take this thing apart again. The hose, filter, and spark plug replacement, the valve adjustment, electrical inspection, fluid flushing, etc. were relatively easy. Body panel strip-down and reassembly was tedious. Removing and reattaching the seat was a nightmare.
