Hi Honeybee. MOST scoots use a 35 watt bulb for the headlight. They are not very bright. Hopefully you have them adjusted to get the best you can from them (it). You have a couple of options. One is to take the bulb out and go to an autoparts dealer (or Walmart) and find one with the same base but a higher wattage. If you find a match, don't get carried away because watts equals heat as well. You don't want to melt the plastic lense. Another option is a HID (High Intensity Discharge) kit which will give you more lumens which is a measure of light but they are expensive and not simply a remove and replace option. One other option is to add another light such as a "driving" or "fog" light which I tried myself but I had so much vibration and it was so distracting that I eventually took it back off and just deal with what the scoot came with originally. I fear I haven't been very helpful, but you're not alone in your complaint about the night lighting.

You might be able to use a 35w/40w bulb with no problems where a 55 may pull too much amps and put out more heat than the bulb housing can take .
Always keep the lens clean and streak free helps . I replaced my tail light with an 1157 LED replacement and it brighten up my headlights up a lil bit

Hi everyone....I installed 35w 5000k H4 9003 Bi-Xenon Hi/Lo HID's in my scoot over a year ago and they work great. I purchased mine off Ebay for a car, I have dual headlights and the install was easy. There are tutorials on this mod on the scooter forum web sites, give it a try. I also went to LED's for the stop and turn on the rear. Enjoy the ride.

thanks All! i did some more research and found that it's not the headlight per se, but a smaller light under the headlight that stays on all day. it's the same size as a nightlight.
when i turn on the bike those small lights come on and if push the "high" beam the headlights come on. the icon for the lights seem to be low beam (as the small lights have a downward slope coming from the icon) and the icon for the headlights have straight lines coming from that icon.
any tips on that? anyone see anything similiar?

I'm having a simular problem with my 08 mc54 250b . Lights come on bright , but after a short ride they are about half as broght , can hardley see the fan light. All the wires from the motor to the rectifier get hot . I'm still analizing the problem , may be rectifier braking down when it gets hot.
