looking for a kymco owner but all help/suggestions welcome.... just did a oil change on my 300 dt..(5000km mark)...did the initial break in oil and filter change with no incident....
i changed over to synthetic/mobil for this oil change......scooter takes approx....one and one half liters.....put new hiflo filter and oil....rode a few days no leaks.....today i had to do a chore that got me on the freeway for a brief bit....i noticed a red light go on...but by the time i got home it clearly read "oil service"...this oil service light is different than the oil can/graghic light which goes on and than shuts off once the scooter is running...
long story short, i put the scooter on the center stand and checked the oil level on the dip stick....owners manual tells you to check the oil level without completely screwing the filler cap back on.....anyway i wound up putting in another 5-6 ounces...rechecked it and the light is still lit....but the oil level is all the way up on the thatched portion of the cap/stick.....
scooter runs great....not loosing a drop of oil.....just can't figure out why this light won't go out and i am reluctant to overfill with more oil....any ideas?

It is probably an oil change indicator to tell you it is time for an oil change. There is a way to reset it when you change your oil but I am not familiar with how to do it on your particular scooter. Look in the owners manual if you have one. It may be in the section for maintenance or in the section telling about the instrument panel.

On my Xciting 500Ri it has an "oil service" lamp that comes on when it thinks it needs an oil change, but there is a button on the dash to reset it. This lamp is not the oil can lamp, there are two different oil lamps on my Kymco. I hope this is of some assistance.

thanks to all i figured it out....had to re-prog the adj/mode button....and the light went off....the oil service indicator light is set to go off at every approx.50000km....the light you really have to worry about is the oil cam indicator light...if that light does not shut off.....when the scooter starts up...you have problems....maybe its me but the scooter definately feels like it has more get up with the syn oil i put in and changing of plug to irridium....once again...thanks to all....
