Ok, here is a weird, paperwork question:\
When I go register & insure my IceBear, do I fill in the Chinese Make/Model (DAIX/Zhenhua ZH-Z3 L) or the U.S. Distributor Make/Model (IceBear Viking)?
I think the Registration will be the Simpler of the two. Just hand them the title and they will do what they will do. However, the Insurer is going to want the Make/Model/Year. I have doubts that they will find DAIX in their system but might find IceBear. Then again, they might want whatever the Secretary of State (DMV) put on the paperwork.
I found IceBear Viking in Kelley Blue Book but not DAIX.
I would appriciate comments from Chinese Scooter owners and how that worked out.

Different States use different Makes and Models according to the VIN. The model is actually a ZH-23 L. The manufacturers code in Wi is HUZH, but Florida uses DIAXI as examples. Your local DMV should be able to tell you by the VIN.

My Roketa MC54B is distributed by Roketa here in the US, but it was manufactured by another company name in China. All I did was give the VIN # to my insurance (State Farm) and they looked it up in the system.
It came back to them under the distributor name, with a funky model name I didn't recognize. Just give your insurance a call and give them the VIN# and have them look it up.

In Nebraska they used Daix. They couldn't find anything on file. The county had to call the state and have them decide. But I did get a title and get it registered. State Farm had to do a similar process for insurance. Wasn't hard, but was a PITB. ;D

Thanks everybody. It sounds like every state just sort of "wings" it. I will try what Smoke-Eater said and just give them the VIN and let them do whatever they do. I will post what Michigan calls it when I get it registered.
Right now, it is still hung up at the local trucking company waiting to be delivered. Where it has sat since the 28th.

My Sunny came with the MCO listing the manufacturer as Dong Fang Vehicle Made Company. The manufacturer code was in the system, and it registered fine, but is listed as Dong Fang on the registration. The insurance carrier (Allstate) had nothing in their system for it. I rode it to the agent's office, he looked it over, scratched his head, and listed the brand as 2010. (the model year) My insurance card just says 2010 150cc, but it has the VIN number on the card, so it is legal and insured...

Update:
Secretary of State (DMV) worker entered it into the system as Make: DAUX & Model: Motorcycle.
My insurance just listed it as "Imported Motorcycle" and I entered DAIX.
Whatever! At least it is registered and Insured now.
