I've been researching Trikes and have these questions:
1) Belt or chain and why
2) 2 tires in front or 2 tires in rear and why?
3) single cylinder or twin and why?
# of the many questions I have. There doesn't seem to be a dealer in the Richmond, Va. area, so I've gotta rely on you guys . . .

I've been researching Trikes and have these questions: 1) Belt or chain and why 2) 2 tires in front or 2 tires in rear and why? 3) single cylinder or twin and why? # of the many questions I have. There doesn't seem to be a dealer in the Richmond, Va. area, so I've gotta rely on you guys . . . If you are looking at a reverse trike ( 2 wheels in front ) the only way to go is a Can Am,but they are not cheap. The reason being is the Chinese manuafacturer ( Kandi ) has not quite got it together. Ice Bear use to sell the reverse trikes from Kandi but even they had trouble getting parts and warranty. That is distributor to distributor, so you can imagine what the consumers went through. Hense Ice Bear quit selling them. They have improved on their design, but the vote is still out. I have not seen enough improvement to even consider carrying them. I have 2 customers that I try to maintain them for, but it is a challenge. The biggest problem is keeping the front end aligned so it handles okay and doesn't wear tires. One other issue is that they had trouble with the wiring harnesses. One even caught fire and it took 7 mos to get a harness. Look on this site and you will see what kind of issues other people have had. Conventional trikes ( 2 wheels in back ) are manufactured by Ice Bear, (DAIXI). 50cc, 150cc and 300cc are all single cylinder, twist an go (automatics) . The 250cc is a twin, but only available in the Road Warrior and it is also a manual transmission. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair 715-825-3710

2 in the back for sure. There were way too many people with problems with the reverse trike. I think one guy sold his without ever even riding it, LOL. I give my IceBears hell and they take it with a smile.

I have one of the Sunny reverse trikes, which may be a different issue because my Sunny is a "leaner" - it leans into the turns, as opposed to the Kandi or CanAm, which do not lean. I find that I prefer it if (when) I get caught in the rain; I dunno, maybe just the idea of having two tires worth of rubber on the road in front in the slickage. From the steering stem back, it is a generic 150cc Chinese scooter, so it has CVT belt drive, and is generally oversized, overweight, and underpowered... ;D With attention to the front end from time to time, it actually handles very well.
